Systems, methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media for adaptive active noise cancellation

A headset device includes a first earpiece configured to receive a reference sound and to generate a first reference audio signal based on the reference sound. The headset device further includes a second earpiece configured to receive the reference sound and to generate a second reference audio signal based on the reference sound. The headset device further includes a controller coupled to the first earpiece and to the second earpiece. The controller is configured to generate a first signal and a second signal based on a phase relationship between the first reference audio signal and the second reference audio signal. The controller is further configured to output the first signal to the first earpiece and output the second signal to the second earpiece.

Device for generating audio output

This disclosure describes circuit configurations that may be used for active noise cancellation in the digital domain. In particular, this disclosure proposes the use a down sample unit and an up sample unit, rather than memory-based delay circuits, to achieve one or more desired delays in digital adaptive noise cancellation circuits or other circuits that use delay for signal processing. The delay achieved by the down sample unit and the up sample unit may be tunable so as to allow flexibility in producing the necessary delay for different active noise cancellation circuit configurations. Many different adaptive noise cancellation circuit configurations are discussed, and the techniques may also be useful for other types of circuits, such as low-latency equalization circuits.

Delay techniques in active noise cancellation circuits or other circuits that perform filtering of decimated coefficients

Techniques are described for assisting near distance communications. A first device comprising a receiver, a sensor and a processor may be configured to perform the assisted near distance communication techniques. The receiver may receive, from a second device located within a conversational distance to the first device, monophonic audio data representative of the near distance communication. The sensor may generate a sensor signal representative of spatial information of the near distance communication. The processor may render, based on the spatial information and the monophonic audio data, multi-dimensional audio data in which the near distance communication originates in a soundfield from a location of the second device relative to the first device. The processor may next output the multi-dimensional audio data to a transducer so as to reproduce the near distance communication in multiple dimensions.

Assisted near-distance communication using binaural cues

A method for feedback detection by an electronic device is described. The method includes receiving a first microphone signal by a first microphone. A feedback loop includes the first microphone and a speaker. The method also includes receiving a second microphone signal by a second microphone that is outside of the feedback loop. A first signal based on the first microphone signal and a second signal based on the second microphone signal exhibit a higher correlation in presence of feedback and exhibit a lower correlation in absence of feedback. The method further includes determining a correlation based on the first microphone signal and the second microphone signal. The method additionally includes determining whether feedback is occurring based on the correlation.

Systems and methods for feedback detection

A dual diaphragm microphone can be used to reduce or eliminate a component of the output signal due to acceleration of the microphone. The dual diaphragm microphone can include a first sound-detecting component including a first diaphragm spaced apart from a first electrode and configured to generate a first signal and a second sound-detecting component including a second diaphragm spaced apart from a second electrode and configured to generate a second signal. The first sound-detecting component and the second sound-detecting component are oriented in opposite directions and include electronic circuitry configured to sum the first and second output signals to generate a combined output signal substantially unaffected by acceleration of the microphone.

An electronic device for controlling noise is described. The electronic device includes a force sensor for detecting a force on the electronic device. The electronic device also includes noise control circuitry for generating a noise control signal based on a noise signal and the force. Another electronic device for controlling noise is also described. The electronic device includes a speaker that outputs a runtime ultrasound signal, an error microphone that receives a runtime ultrasound channel signal and noise control circuitry coupled to the speaker and to the error microphone. The noise control circuitry determines at least one calibration parameter and determines a runtime channel response based on the runtime ultrasound channel signal. The noise control circuitry also determines a runtime placement based on the runtime channel response and the at least one calibration parameter and determines at least one runtime active noise control parameter based on the runtime placement.

Electronic devices for controlling noise

A method of audio signal processing includes determining a difference between a first set of filter parameters of a first input frame of an active noise cancellation (ANC) filter and a second set of filter parameters of a second input frame of the ANC filter. The method further includes selectively modifying a duty cycle of adaptive ANC processing associated with the ANC filter based on the difference between the first set of filter parameters and the second set of filter parameters.

Variable rate adaptive active noise cancellation

In general, techniques are described for limiting active noise cancellation output. As one example, an apparatus comprising one or more processors may perform the techniques. The one or more processors may be configured to, when an estimated noise level increases, dynamically lowering application of active noise cancellation to at least a portion of an audio signal to obtain at least a portion of an active noise cancelled version of the audio signal.

In one example, a method of audio signal processing includes producing an anti-noise signal based on information from a first audio signal. A target component of a second audio signal is separated from a noise component of the second audio signal to produce at least one among a separated target component and a separated noise component. Based on at least one among the separated target component and the separated noise component, an audio output signal is produced.
