A display device including: a display panel including sub-pixels; a viewpoint separation unit configured to separate viewpoint images displayed by the display panel for each viewpoint; and a control unit configured to determine a left eye viewpoint image provided to a left eye viewpoint corresponding to a left eye position of a viewer and a right eye viewpoint image provided to a right eye viewpoint corresponding to a right eye position of the viewer, wherein the control unit converts left eye adjacent viewpoint images provided to viewpoints adjacent to the left eye viewpoint into the left eye viewpoint image, and converts right eye adjacent viewpoint images provided to viewpoints adjacent to the right eye viewpoint into the right eye viewpoint image.

Display device and a method of driving the same

A display device includes a display panel that includes a pixel, a variable light transmission layer disposed on the display panel and that includes liquid crystal molecules, and a lens layer disposed on the variable light transmission layer and that includes lenses and a polarization pattern. The polarization pattern overlaps a boundary area between adjacent lenses. The display device operates in a 2D image mode that provides a 2D image or a 3D image mode that provides a 3D image, and the polarization pattern transmits light when the display device operates in 2D image mode, and blocks light when the display device operates in 3D image mode.

Display device

A display assembly includes a display device having an upper surface on which an image is output, and a lens device detachably connected to the upper surface of the display device. The lens device includes a lens panel that refracts the image from the display device, and a connection layer disposed on a lower surface of the lens panel facing the display device and detachably connected to the upper surface of the display device. The upper surface of the display device includes first contact interfaces, and the connection layer includes second contact interfaces detachably connected to the first contact interfaces.

A display device includes a substrate, a first set of light emitting structures, a second set of light emitting structures, a diffraction layer, and a refraction pattern. The substrate includes a first region and a second region. The first set of light emitting structures overlaps the first region. The second set of light emitting structures overlaps the second region. The diffraction layer overlaps the first region without overlapping the second region. The refraction pattern overlaps the diffraction layer. The diffraction layer includes first-refractive-index members and second-refractive-index members that are alternately disposed. A refractive index of each of the first-refractive-index members is lower than a refractive index of each of the second-refractive-index members.

Display device comprising diffraction layer and refraction pattern for controlling viewing angle

A stereoscopic image display device includes an eye detection sensor that includes a camera that captures an image of a user's eyes, a display panel disposed on the eye detection sensor and that includes pixels, and a light modulator disposed on the display panel and that controls the path of light output from the display panel. The light modulator includes a first electrode layer, a second electrode layer that faces the first electrode layer and includes a first sub-electrode that overlaps a first area of the eye detection sensor and a second sub-electrode that does not overlap the first area but overlaps a second area of the eye detection sensor that overlaps the camera, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer and that includes liquid crystal molecules.

An augmented reality providing apparatus is provided. The augmented reality providing apparatus includes a lens including a first lens portion including a first reflective member, and a second lens portion including a second reflective member, and a display device on one side of the lens for displaying first and second images, wherein the first reflective member reflects the first image at a first angle, and the second reflective member reflects the second image at a second angle that is different from the first angle.

Optical device and method of manufacturing the same

A display device includes a display panel, a lens array disposed on a first surface of the display panel and including a plurality of lenses, and an optical filter disposed on the first surface of the display panel. The optical filter includes a plurality of first portions and a plurality of second portions which are alternately arranged in a first direction parallel to the first surface of the display panel. Each of the plurality of first portions has a first transmittance value. Each of the plurality of second portions has a symmetric light transmittance distribution in which a transmittance value increases from the center having a second transmittance value to each of opposite ends having a third transmittance value.

Display device and manufacturing method thereof

A three-dimensional (3D) display device includes a display panel which operates in a first mode for displaying a first image or a second mode for displaying a second image and a liquid crystal lens panel disposed on the display panel, where the liquid crystal lens panel refracts the first image in a way such that the first image has a first viewing angle and refracts the second image in a way such that the second image has a second viewing angle greater than the first viewing angle. The liquid crystal lens panel includes an upper substrate, a first lens layer including a plurality of first lenses, a lower substrate, a second lens layer including a plurality of second lenses, and a liquid crystal layer. A first pitch of each of the plurality of first lenses is less than a second pitch of each of the plurality of second lenses.

3D display device

An embodiment of a display device includes a substrate, a first light-emitting element, and a light control layer. The substrate includes a display area and a peripheral area adjacent to the display area, and the display area includes a light-emitting area and a light-blocking area. The first light-emitting element is disposed in the light-emitting area on the substrate and emits a first light having a first wavelength range. The light control layer is disposed on the first light-emitting element, and defines an opening exposing a portion of the light-emitting area. The light control layer includes a photochromic material such that in operation a second light having a second wavelength range different from the first wavelength range applied to the light control layer discolors the light control layer.

A display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels each including a light emitting layer, and a stereoscopic lens including a curved base disposed on a surface of the display panel with a predetermined radius of curvature, and a plurality of lenses disposed on the curved base and inclined from a side of the display panel. A thickness of the curved base of the stereoscopic lens increases as a distance from a center of the stereoscopic lens increases.

An optical device includes: a lens including a first reflector; a display device at a first side surface of the lens and including a plurality of subpixels; and a lens array between the lens and the display device and including a plurality of lenses configured to condense light from the subpixels onto the first reflector.

Optical device

A display device includes a display panel including a display surface having a Lambertian light emission distribution, and a viewing angle modulator disposed on the display panel. The viewing angle modulator includes a first refractive layer including a diffraction structure on a surface, a refractive index conversion layer disposed on the first refractive layer and including an electro-optical material having a refractive index that changes when a voltage is applied to the electro-optical material, and a second refractive layer disposed on the refractive index conversion layer. The refractive index conversion layer includes a base layer, and an optical structure disposed on the base layer that changes a path of light incident on a surface facing the second refractive layer.

Display device comprising a display panel having a Lambertian light emission distribution and a viewing angle modulator including a diffraction structure

A light field display device includes: a display module; an optical coupler emitting a third image obtained by combining a first image and a second image, and including a first surface, a second surface and an emission surface emitting the third image, wherein the first image is emitted from the display module and is incident on the first surface, wherein the second image is incident on the second surface; and a controller configured to generate image data based on 3D modeling data and provide the image data to the display module. The optical coupler includes: an optical waveguide including the first, second and emission surfaces, and a third surface; a beam splitter in the optical waveguide; and a concave mirror adjacent to the third surface of the optical waveguide, and wherein the controller moves the concave mirror in correspondence with depth information included in the 3D modeling data.

Light field display device and method of processing image of the same

A substrate polishing system includes: a polishing machine and a substrate transporter. The polishing machine includes: a lower surface plate to which a substrate is mounted, and an upper surface plate which faces the lower surface plate and polishes the substrate in cooperation with the lower surface plate, the upper surface plate having a larger area than the substrate mounted on the lower surface plate. The substrate transporter is adjacent to the polishing machine and commonly transports the substrate to and from the polishing machine in a first direction, attaches the substrate to the lower surface plate before polishing thereof, and separates from the lower surface plate the substrate after polishing thereof.
