An electronic apparatus operated based on an OS is provided. The electronic apparatus includes a storage to store the OS, a virtual device program capable of generating a virtual device executed based on the OS, and at least one program; and at least one processor to execute the virtual device program to generate the virtual device, and to execute the OS to determine whether a first program having an administration authority assigned by the OS from among the at least one program has access authority to data about the virtual device in response to an attempt to access the data from the first program and to selectively permit the access to the data based on the determined access authority. With this, the electronic apparatus may restrain the access to the virtual device or the data thereabout according to a presence of the access authority, thereby safely protecting the virtual device or the data.

A terminal apparatus and a method for time synchronization are provided. The method includes setting a reference time for a time synchronization with another terminal apparatus, transmitting a sync signal comprising the set reference time to the other terminal apparatus, and if a response signal to the sync signal is received from the other terminal apparatus, performing the time synchronization with the other terminal apparatus based on a transmission time of the sync signal and a reception time of the response signal. An apparatus and method for allowing a plurality of playback devices to stream content of a master device simultaneously is provided. When the master device streams content, into which a time stamp is inserted based on the time of the reference device, the playback devices play the content based on the determined synchronization time. Provided is a method of compensating for energy loss and eliminating inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-chip interference (ISI) in wireless signals, and a rake receiver for wireless LANs adopting the same. The rake receiver compensates for energy loss of a CCK signal transmitted in a multi-path wireless channel environment and eliminates ISI and ICI from the received CCK signal because a DFE structure per chip used for calculating ICI components, is connected in parallel with a DFE structure per symbol, thus eliminating ISI and ICI components.

A receiver performing a stable operation in a burst mode is provided. The receiver transmits packet data using a preamble, and has good acquisition performance so that a synchronization part converges on a preamble interval. For the acquisition performance, the receiver senses the carrier of a received signal, detects a rough location of a burst, and in response to the result of carrier sensing, performs coarse gain control, symbol timing compensation, and frame synchronization. Then, if the frame synchronization is completed, in response to the result of frame synchronization, the receiver performs fine gain control, equalization of the signal, and carrier recovery.

A channel equalizing and carrier recovery system for home phoneline networking alliance (HomePNA) receiver and method thereof are provided. The channel equalizing system includes a frequency diverse quadrature amplitude modulation (FD-QAM) equalizer and a quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) equalizer. The FD-QAM equalizer receives an FD-QAM signal, determines FD-QAM tap coefficients, and equalizes the FD-QAM signal using the FD-QAM tap coefficients. The QAM equalizer receives a QAM signal, determines QAM tap coefficients, and equalizes the QAM signal using the QAM tap coefficients. The QAM equalizer receives the FD-QAM signal and determines the QAM tap coefficients during a predetermined header period. The carrier recovery circuit includes a phase detector, a loop filter, and a numerically controlled oscillator (NCO). The phase detector uses a phase difference between a reception symbol and a decision signal of the reception symbol as an instantaneous phase difference when the reception symbol is a data symbol of an FD-QAM signal or a symbol of a QAM signal, uses '0' as the instantaneous phase difference when the reception symbol is a zero symbol of the FD-QAM signal, averages instantaneous phase differences during a predetermined period or time, and outputs the result of averaging. The loop filter filters the output signal of the phase detector. The NCO generates an oscillation signal having a variable phase in response to an output signal of the loop filter so that a phase error of a reception signal can be controlled.
