A thermal management system for a fuel cell vehicle includes a first line including a coolant pump and a fuel cell stack, a second line including a coolant heater and a phase change material (PCM) and connected to the first line to form a first loop in which the coolant pump, the stack, the coolant heater, and the PCM are arranged, a third line including a radiator and connected to the first line to form a second loop in which the coolant pump, the stack, and the radiator are arranged, and an opening and closing valve opening and closing each of the first line, the second line, and the third line to allow the coolant to circulate in at least one of the first loop and the second loop, wherein the PCM is configured to be heat-exchanged with the coolant heater and the coolant.

Thermal management system for fuel cell vehicle and control method thereof

A heat exchange apparatus for cooling water of a fuel cell includes a body, through which a cooling water pipe having cooling water flowing therethrough to be supplied to a fuel cell stack, passes; and a heat accumulator provided in an interior of the body and filled with a PCM heat accumulation material that exchanges heat with the cooling water. The body includes a medium space provided between the cooling water pipe and the heat accumulator such that the heat accumulator is spaced apart from the cooling water pipe. The PCM heat accumulation material exchanges heat with the cooling water by a medium of the medium space.

Heat exchange apparatus for cooling water of fuel cell and fuel cell system including the same

A fuel cell system that has a fuel cell stack is provided. The system includes an electrolyte membrane, and a cathode and an anode that are a pair of electrodes disposed on opposite sides of the electrolyte membrane. A controller applies voltages to the cathode and the anode of the fuel cell stack before hydrogen that operates the fuel cell stack is supplied to the anode. When the voltages are applied to the cathode and the anode, hydrogen that resides in the cathode flows to the anode through the electrolyte membrane to decrease the concentration of the hydrogen in the cathode. The fuel cell system reduces the concentration of hydrogen discharged to the outside of the vehicle by reducing the concentration of hydrogen in the cathode before driving of the fuel cell is initiated.

Fuel cell system and method for controlling the same

Disclosed is a heat exchange apparatus for cooling water of a fuel cell, the heat exchange apparatus including a body, through which a cooling water pipe, through which cooling water that is to be supplied to a fuel cell stack flows, passes, and a heat accumulator provided in the interior of the body and filled with a PCM heat accumulation material that is to exchange heat with the cooling water. The body includes a medium space provided between the cooling water pipe and the heat accumulator and filled with a medium material. The PCM heat accumulation material exchanges heat with the cooling water by the medium material.

Heat exchange device for cooling water of fuel cell and fuel cell system comprising the same

A system and device for water evaporation of a fuel cell, and a control method thereof, are disclosed. The system includes a stack provided in a fuel cell vehicle to produce electric power. The system includes an injection member connected to the stack. The injection member retains water generated in the stack, and injects water at high pressure and evaporates injected water particles. The system includes a compressor that supplies high-temperature air to the injection member. Even when the fuel cell vehicle is cold-started, evaporation is enabled through water injection to directly cool air supplied to the stack. Water is evaporated even without a humidifier so that performance of the fuel cell system may be enhanced, while reducing cost.

System and device for water evaporation of fuel cell and control method thereof

A fuel cell system employs a fuel cell stack having an air electrode, an electrolyte membrane, and a fuel electrode. The fuel cell system includes an air residual space, from which air supplied to the air electrode is not discharged to stay behind therein when the fuel cell system is stopped. The air residual space communicates with the air electrode. The fuel cell system includes a hydrogen residual space, from which hydrogen supplied to the fuel electrode is not discharged to stay behind therein when the fuel cell system is stopped. The hydrogen residual space communicates with the fuel electrode. A residual ratio satisfies a specific reference range and corresponds to a ratio of the molecular number of hydrogen that stays behind in the hydrogen residual space to the molecular number of oxygen in air that stays behind in the air residual space when the fuel cell system is stopped.

Fuel cell system

A fuel cell system includes: a first line provided with a fuel cell stack and allowing a coolant to be circulated therethrough; and a second line provided with an air conditioning system and connected to the first line to allow a portion of the coolant to be selectively circulated therethrough, wherein the air conditioning system includes: a first flow path including a first inlet through which first air is introduced; a second flow path including a second inlet through which second air is introduced, and one or more communication holes communicating with the first flow path; an opening and closing device independently opening and closing the second inlet and the communication holes; a cooler disposed in the first flow path and cooling the air passing through the first flow path; and a heater core disposed in the second flow path and exchanging heat between the coolant passing through the second line and the air passing through the second flow path.

Provided is a fuel cell cooling system including: a heat exchange unit including a radiator dissipating heat contained in a coolant and an evaporator disposed to exchange heat with the radiator and evaporating water using the heat from the radiator to humidify outside air; and an air compressor compressing the outside air passing through the evaporator and supplying the compressed air to a fuel cell stack.

Fuel cell cooling system

A fuel cell stack is provided and includes a plurality of unit cells in which manifolds are provided and an end structural body that includes a current collector and an end plate. The end structural body is disposed at each of outermost sides of the unit cells. Additionally, a heat transfer member is disposed between the end structural body and the outermost side of the unit cell and contacts the outermost side of the unit cell in a planar direction.

Fuel cell stack

An air supply apparatus and method for a fuel cell, which supplies high-pressure air while avoiding a surge phenomenon of a turbo type compressor in a fuel cell system to which the turbo type compressor is applied is provided. In particular, a portion of air from an outlet of a compressor to an inlet of the compressor is recirculated to the supply of air supplied from the compressor to a stack. This recirculated air and external air introduced from the outside are mixed and supplied to the inlet of the compressor at a sufficiently high air pressure, allowing the compressor to avoid a surge region and enabling the supply of air with a high pressure and a low flow rate.

Air supply apparatus and method for fuel cell

An exhaust port structure of a fuel cell vehicle includes a re-circulation fluid passage mounted on an upper portion of an exhaust pipe so as to be arranged parallel to the exhaust pipe, and a mixing pipe mounted on an end of the exhaust pipe and through which external air is suctioned. When a concentration of hydrogen in exhaust gas exceeds a reference value, hydrogen is re-circulated into the exhaust pipe via the re-circulation fluid passage and mixed with external air through the mixing pipe before being exhausted to outside. As a result, during starting and hydrogen purge to remove hydrogen from a fuel cell, the gas with high hydrogen concentration exhausted from the fuel cell and exhausted out of the vehicle can have reduced hydrogen concentration through the re-circulation fluid passage and the mixing pipe.

Exhaust port structure of fuel cell vehicle

A structure of a fuel cell system and a controlling method thereof are provided. The structure of the fuel cell system includes a flow sensor that is configured to detect a flow of air introduced into the fuel cell system and an air compressor that is configured to compress the introduced air and has an air foil bearing to maintain minimum driving revolutions per minute or greater. Additionally, the system includes a flow adjuster that is connected to the fuel cell system. Accordingly, since an amount of air corresponding to a required amount of air of the fuel cell system is supplied by limiting or recirculating an excessive air supply while securing durability and durability of abrasion of the air compressor to which the air foil bearing is applied, a dry phenomenon of the fuel cell system including a stack due to the excessive supply of air is prevented.

Structure of fuel cell system and controlling method thereof

A humidification apparatus for a fuel cell system is provided herein. A membrane humidifier includes humid air inlets, through which humid air discharged from a cathode of a fuel cell stack is introduced, and air outlets, through which air humidifying dry air in hollow fiber membranes is discharged, an air line connected from a cathode outlet of the fuel cell stack to the humid air inlets of the membrane humidifier to supply humid air. Exhaust lines are connected to the air outlets. A flow control valve is provided in the air line and controls the introduction of humid air into the humid air inlets, respectively. An exhaust valve is also provided to open and close flow paths of the exhaust lines. A controller controls the opening and closing of the flow control valve and the exhaust valve based on operating conditions of the fuel cell stack.
