A drum type washing machine capable of preventing/reducing damage to a damper fixing unit provided on a bottom plate for securing a damper at a fixed position by a reinforced rigidity of the damper fixing unit. The drum type washing machine includes a water tub installed in a body, at least one damper to support the water tub, and a damper fixing unit provided on the bottom plate of the body to secure the damper at a fixed position. The damper fixing unit is formed via cutting of the bottom plate and has a reinforced rigidity by a reinforcing portion formed around each cut portion of the bottom plate.

A drum type washing machine includes a water tub adapted to contain wash water therein, and the water tub has first and second vent holes to circulate air to and from the water tub. The first vent hole is positioned higher than the second vent hole. Thereby, outside air is introduced into the water tub via the second vent hole, and interior air of the water tub is discharged to the outside of the water tub via the first vent hole, thereby allowing the relative humidity inside the water tub to be effectively lowered by virtue of air circulation.

A drum washing machine and a method of controlling the same. The locked state of a door is released for a predetermined period of time without interrupting water supply or water drainage for a user to open the door, during supplying or draining of water, when a washing or dewatering operation of the drum washing machine is initiated or when the washing or dewatering operation of the drum washing machine is resumed after the washing or dewatering operation of the drum washing machine is interrupted. Drum washing machine and method of controlling the same

A washing machine and a control method thereof are provided, which control a rotational speed of a rotary tub (or revolutions per minute: RPM of a motor) according to a vibration level thereof to attenuate a vibration of the rotary tub. The washing machine includes the rotary tub, the motor, a vibration detecting unit and a control unit. The motor is linked to the rotary tub to be supplied with drive power and rotates the rotary tub. The vibration detecting unit detects the vibration level of the rotary tub using a variation of the drive power supplied to the motor when the motorrotates. The control unit controls a current rotational speed of the motor to be increased, maintained or decreased according to the vibration level of the rotary tub detected by the vibration detecting unit.

Washing machine and method of controlling the same

A drum type washing machine in which wash water fed to a tub via a water supply pipe is directly supplied into a drum. The washing machine includes a housing, a tub arranged in the housing to contain wash water therein, a drum rotatably mounted in the tub, a water supply pipe adapted to supply wash water into the tub, and a water supply guide unit provided at the tub, to guide the wash water from the water supply pipe to be directly supplied into the drum. Since the wash water is directly supplied into the drum, laundry contained in the drum is wetted by the wash water, immediately after the supply of the wash water. Thus, it is possible to reduce the wash time for the laundry.
