The present invention provides a system and method for collecting data from a Laser Doppler Anemometer of the type including a probe mounted to a controllable traversing system. Velocity and position data is collected from the probe while it is continuously in motion, and displayed in real time. If at any point the data is of unacceptable quality, the data collection process is stopped, the probe is moved to a last known good position, and the data collection process is restarted.

Data aquisition system and method for a laser doppler anemometer

A non-intrusive method of monitoring the integrity of a rotating member comprising mounting at least one sensor in a stationary frame of reference in a casing over the rotating member, measuring the pressure field of the rotating member, comparing the measured pressure field with a corresponding reference pressure field, identifying variations in the measured pressure field, the variations indicative of a fault in the rotating member, and generating an output indicative of an identified fault.

Method and apparatus for non-intrusive monitoring of rotating components

A vortex suppressing flow eductor apparatus having a vortex filament producing flow eductor is provided with corresponding vortex destroying plates positioned and extending sufficiently downstream from a point within educted flow and deep enough into the vortex filament so as to essentially destroy the vortex filament. A particular embodiment provides a freestream sensor scoop, for use in an aircraft gas turbine engine inlet, having an eductor diffusing channel and a fairing surrounding a forward portion of the diffusing channel. A sensor supporting mast is provided for helping to measure freestream air characteristics. Vortex destroying plates are provided for suppressing vortex filaments generated by the channel, fairing, and mast.
