A display device is provided. A display panel includes pixels configured to display an image. An illumination sensor measures an illumination of ambient light of the display panel. A controller controls the display panel so that the luminance of the pixels decreases during a first time interval when the illumination of the ambient light decreases and controls the display panel so that the luminance of the pixels increases during a second time interval when the illumination of the ambient light increases. The first time interval is shorter than the second time interval.

A display device includes a driving frequency calculator configured to divide output image data into central, intermediate, and peripheral images respectively corresponding to central, intermediate, and peripheral visual field regions, calculate spatial frequencies of the central image, the intermediate image, and the peripheral image, calculate critical flicker frequencies of the central visual field region, the intermediate visual field region, and the peripheral visual field region based on the spatial frequencies and based on viewing angles of the central visual field region, the intermediate visual field region, and the peripheral visual field region, and determine driving frequencies of the central visual field region, the intermediate visual field region, and the peripheral visual field region based on the critical flicker frequencies, and a display panel configured to display an image based on the output image data and based on the driving frequencies.

The signal control circuit includes a histogram check unit that divides data of one frame among the input data into a plurality of regions based on a gray scale and calculates a distribution of the data based on the plurality of regions, a gray check unit that calculates the number of major grayscales having data of a specific number or more among the input data, an optical waveform analysis unit that generates a signal calculated based on an optical waveform of the plurality of pixels, and a frequency selection unit that selects a driving frequency of the display panel based on the distribution of the data, the number of the major grayscales, and the signal.

A transparent display device includes a transparent display panel which displays an image, a scan driver which provides a scan signal to the transparent display panel, a data driver which converts image data into a data signal based on an application gamma curve, and which provides the data signal to the transparent display panel, a timing controller which controls the scan driver and the data driver, a luminance value compensator which calculates a perception luminance of the transparent display panel based on a luminance of incident light that is incident on the transparent display panel and a transmittance of the transparent display panel, and a gamma curve adjuster which adjusts the application gamma curve based on a reference gamma value of a reference gamma curve and the perception luminance of the transparent display panel.

An electronic apparatus includes an infrared ray module, a camera module, and a display module including an active area through which an image is displayed and a non-active area adjacent to the active area and including a high transmittance area and a low transmittance area which are defined in the active area. The high transmittance area includes a first transmission area and a second transmission area, the camera module overlaps the first transmission area, and the infrared ray module overlaps the second transmission area.
