A mobile communication apparatus with multiple transmission and reception antennas and a mobile communication method therefor are provided. In the mobile communication apparatus including a base station and a mobile station, the base station with at least one transmission antenna restores long-term information, short-term information, a signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) from a feedback signal received from the mobile station, spatially processes dedicated physical channel (DPCH) signals using basis information generated from the restored long-term information, short-term information, and SINR, and transmits the results of adding pilot channel (PICH) signals to the spatially processed results to the mobile station. The mobile station with at least one reception antenna determines a first characteristic corresponding to the channel downlink characteristic for each of the transmission and reception antennas, from the PICH signals transmitted from the base station, determines the long-term information, the short-term information, and downlink power control information including the SINR, which reflect the first characteristic, converts the determined long-term information, short-term information, and downlink power control information into the feedback signal, and transmits the feedback signal to the base station.

Mobile communication apparatus with multiple transmission and reception antennas and mobile communication method therefor

A mobile communication apparatus having an antenna array and a mobile communication method performed in the mobile communication apparatus, wherein the mobile communication apparatus includes a base station and mobile station, each having an antenna array. The mobile station measures the downlink characteristics of a channel for each antenna from a signal received from a base station, determines long-term information in which the correlation property of the channel for each antenna has been reflected from the measured downlink characteristics, transforms the long-term information into a feedback signal, and transmits the feedback signal to the base station. The base station receives the feedback signal, restores the long-term information from the received feedback signal, performs basis mapping and basis transformation on a dedicated physical channel signal using the restored long-term information, adds the basis-mapped and basis-transformed signal to each of pilot channel signals, and transmits the addition results to the mobile station.

A mobile communication apparatus with multiple transmission and reception antennas and a mobile communication method therefore including a base station that restores long-term and short-term information from a received feedback signal, spatially processes dedicated physical channel (DPCH) signals using basis information generated from the restored long-term and short-term information, and transmits the results of adding pilot channel (PICH) signals to the spatially processed results, to the base station, and a mobile station that determines a first characteristic corresponding to the channel downlink characteristic for each of the transmission and reception antennas using the PICH signals transmitted from the base station, determines the long-term and short-term information based on the first characteristic, converts the determined long-term and short-term information to a feedback signal, and transmits the feedback signal to the base station. The long-term information includes effective long-term eigenvectors and eigenvalues, and the short-term information includes effective short-term eigenvectors and eigenvalues.

A transmission antenna diversity method, and a base station apparatus and a mobile station apparatus therefor in a mobile communication system are provided. In the transmission antenna diversity method, channel information is measured from signals received through the plurality of antennas used in the base station, and a channel information matrix is output. The channel information matrix is transformed according to a transform matrix composed of a complex basis vector set. Reception power with respect to the plurality of antennas is calculated based on the transformed channel information matrix. Antenna selection information obtained based on the calculated reception power is transmitted to the base station as feedback information for controlling transmission antenna diversity. Therefore, power is equally distributed to transmitting antennas, excellent performance is maintained at a high speed of movement, and reliable channel adaptation is accomplished at a low speed of movement of the mobile station.

Closed loop transmit diversity method and apparatus using complex basis vector sets for antenna selection

A mobile communication apparatus with an antenna array and a mobile communication method therefore, wherein the apparatus includes a base station with an antenna array and a mobile station, wherein the mobile station determines a channel downlink characteristic for each antenna, determines long-term information and short-term information, converts the determined long-term information and short-term information to a feedback signal, and transmits the feedback signal to the base station. The base station receives the feedback signal, extracts a plurality of weights from the long-term information and short-term information, multiplies a multiplexed dedicated physical channel signal by the respective weights, adds respective pilot channel signals to the products, and transmits the results of the additions through the antenna array to the mobile station. The present invention allows more users to use the same bandwidth through efficient feedback bandwidth utilization and maximized diversity and beamforming effects.

Mobile communication apparatus with antenna array and mobile communication method thereof

A channel coding device is disclosed. In the device, a bit inserter inserts known bits in an input data bit stream at predetermined positions. A channel coder codes the bit-inserted data bit stream to generate coded symbols. A rate matcher matches a rate of the coded symbols to a given channel symbol rate. A channel interleaver interleaves the rate matched channel symbols. The rate matcher includes a puncturer for puncturing the inserted known bits included in the coded symbols when the coded symbol rate is higher than the given channel symbol rate. The rate matcher includes a repeater for repeating the coded symbols to match the coded symbol rate to the given channel symbol rate when the coded symbol rate is lower than the given channel symbol rate.
