A continuous process for transporting a waste plastic feedstock to a refinery processing unit, includes forming a solution containing (i) about 1 to about 40 wt. %, based on the total weight of the solution, of one or more waste plastic feedstocks and (ii) a recycled inert carrier fluid received from a refinery processing unit, and processing the solution comprising the one or more waste plastic feedstocks and the recycled inert carrier fluid in the presence of a catalyst under catalytic cracking conditions.

Provided is a composition comprising a blend of a waste plastic and a bio feedstock. Also provided is a process for preparing a stable blend of a plastic and bio feedstock which can be stored or transported if desired. The amount of plastic in the blend comprises no more than 20 wt. % of the blend. The blend can be passed to a conversion unit for conversion of the waste plastic and bio feedstock. The conversion process produces clean monomers for polymerization and chemical intermediates.

Blend of waste plastic with bio feed and process of preparation

Provided is a blend of a petroleum feedstock and 1-20 wt. % of plastic, based on the weight of the blend, with the plastic comprising polyethylene and/or polypropylene, and the plastic in the blend comprising finely dispersed microcrystalline particles having an average particle size of 10 micron to less than 100 microns and less than 100 ppm chloride. A process for preparing a blend of plastic and petroleum is provided, comprising mixing together a petroleum feed and a plastic comprising polyethylene and/or polypropylene and heating the mixture in the range of from 550° F. to 700° F. The blend mixture is then hot filtered and then optionally treated with a chloride removal guard bed. The resulting blend can then be cooled and stored or sent directly to a refinery conversion unit.

Process for stable blend of waste plastic with petroleum feed for feeding to oil refinery units and process of preparing same

Provided is a continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polypropylene polymerization. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and/or polypropylene and preparing a stable blend of petroleum and the selected plastic. The amount of plastic in the blend comprises no more than 20 wt. % of the blend. The blend is passed to a refinery hydrocracking unit. A liquid petroleum gas Colefin/paraffin mixture is recovered from the hydrocracking unit. The Cparaffins and Colefins are separated into different fractions with the Colefin fraction passed to a propylene polymerization reactor, and the Cparaffin fraction passed optionally to a dehydrogenation unit to produce additional propylene. A heavy fraction can also be recovered from the hydrocracking unit and passed to an isomerization dewaxing unit to prepare base oil.

Circular economy for plastic waste to polypropylene and base oil via refinery hydrocracking unit

A continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polypropylene polymerization is provided. The process integrates refinery operations to provide an effective and efficient recycle process. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and polypropylene and then passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a naphtha/diesel fraction, a heavy fraction, and char. The naphtha/diesel fraction is passed to a refinery FCC unit, from which is recovered a liquid petroleum gas Colefin/paraffin mixture. The Cparaffins and Colefins are separated into different fractions with a propane/propylene splitter. The Colefin fraction is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor. The Cparaffin fraction is optionally passed to a dehydrogenation unit to produce additional propylene and then the resulting Colefin is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor. The heavy fraction of pyrolyzed oil is passed to an isomerization dewaxing unit to produce a lubricating base oil.

The process includes dehydrating a renewable C2-C6 alcohol feedstock to produce an olefin, oligomerizing the olefin the presence of a halometallate ionic liquid catalyst to produce an oligomer product and hydrogenating the oligomer product or fractions thereof to produce saturated distillate-range hydrocarbons.

A process of making a silica-alumina composition having improved properties is provided. The process includes (a) mixing an aqueous solution of a silicon compound and an aqueous solution of an aluminum compound and an acid, while maintaining a pH of the mixed solution in a range of 1 to 3, and obtaining an acidified silica-alumina sol; (b) adding an aqueous solution of a base precipitating agent to the acidified silica-alumina sol to a final pH in a range of 5 to 8, and co-precipitating a silica-alumina slurry, wherein the base precipitating agent is selected from ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, and any combination thereof; (c) optionally, hydrothermally aging the silica-alumina slurry to form a hydrothermally aged silica-alumina slurry; and (d) recovering a precipitate solid from the silica-alumina slurry or the hydrothermally aged silica-alumina slurry, wherein the precipitate solid comprises the silica-alumina composition.

Provided in one embodiment is a continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polyethylene polymerization. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and/or polypropylene, and passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a pyrolysis oil and optionally pyrolysis wax comprising a naphtha/diesel fraction and heavy fraction, and char. Provided in one embodiment is a continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polyethylene polymerization. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and/or polypropylene, and passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a pyrolysis oil and optionally wax comprising a naphtha/diesel and heavy fraction, and char. The pyrolysis oil and wax is passed to a refinery FCC unit from which a liquid petroleum gas C-Colefin/paraffin mixture fraction is recovered. The liquid petroleum gas C-Colefin/paraffin mixture fraction is passed to a refinery alkylation unit, with a propane and butane fraction recovered from the alkylation unit. The propane and butane fraction is then passed to a steam cracker for ethylene production. In another embodiment, a naphtha fraction (C-C) is recovered from the alkylation unit and passed to the steam cracker. In another embodiment, a propane/propylene fraction (C-C) is recovered from the FCC and passed to the steam cracker.

Circular economy for plastic waste to polyethylene via refinery FCC and alkylation units

A process is provided for producing a liquid hydrocarbon material suitable for use as a fuel or as a blending component in a fuel. The process includes co-processing a pyrolysis oil derived from a waste plastic raw material and a biorenewable feedstock comprising triglycerides in a catalytic cracking process in a presence of a solid catalyst at catalytic cracking conditions to provide a cracking product. The cracking product may be fractionated to provide at least one of a gasoline fraction and a middle distillate fraction.
