A method of providing adaptive augmented reality (AR) streaming and an apparatus performing the method are disclosed. An AR streaming method includes identifying an AR content to be displayed, obtaining a metafile corresponding to the AR content, extracting information of chunks to render the AR content from the metafile, requesting the chunks based on the information, receiving the requested chunks, and rendering the AR content based on the received chunks.

An apparatus for adaptive streaming in multiple narrowband wireless communication environment comprises a communication unit configured to perform multi-communication with a server using a TCP and an UDP, a network monitor unit configured to collect state information on each of a plurality of narrowband networks, and a parameter control unit configured to: based on the collected state information on each of the plurality of narrowband networks, select a quality of video segment to be requested and one of the TCP protocol and the UDP protocol to be used in each of the plurality of narrowband networks, or determine a data size of redundant data for data loss restoration for each of the plurality of narrowband networks.

The present invention provides a method for reducing channel change time of an IPTV and an IPTV service provision server for implementing the same, which comprise: determining the type of each of individual channels to be provided to a user and the number of additional intraframes required to be inserted into video data to be provided via the channels; inserting the additional intraframes corresponding to the determined number into the video data; encoding the video data; and transmitting the encoded video data to a first router or a second router according to the determined channel type, before receiving a channel request signal from the user.

Method for reducing channel change time of internet protocol television (IPTV) and IPTV service provision server for implementing the same

A method and apparatus for controlling a channel for providing an IPTV is disclosed, which is capable of improving use efficiency of network resource and reducing a channel zapping time by controlling a channel type of each channel and a bit rate of video data to be transmitted through each channel, the method comprising (a) determining an optimal channel status vector among channel status vectors to indicate channel types of respective channels, wherein the optimal channel status vector enables a minimum cost corresponding to the sum of an average channel zapping time of respective channels and an average distortion value of video data transmitted through the respective channels; and determining an optimal bit rate at the determined optimal channel status vector; and (b) transmitting the video data at the optimal bit rate through the respective channels.

Method and apparatus for controlling channel for providing internet protocol television service

A mobile IPTV system and a method of providing a mobile IPTV service are provided. The mobile IPTV system includes an IPTV head end, a base station, and a mobile terminal. The IPTV head end encodes data for an IPTV stream into a base layer and an enhancement layer and outputs the encoded data. The base station receives the IPTV stream from the IPV head end and partially truncates the enhancement layer of the IPTV stream according to a combination of a modulation technique and a cording rate which are determined in advance and outputs a transmission IPTV stream. The mobile terminal receives the transmission IPTV stream from the base station. Since an IPTV service is provided in view of a user distribution characteristic of a network, user can be efficiently provided with satisfactory QoS.
