Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for a fallback procedure for a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure for data transmission in a wireless communication system where the apparatuses and methods include at least generating, by a user equipment (UE), a first signal that includes a first message (MsgA) for a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure, transmitting, by the UE, the first signal to a next generation NodeB (gNB), determining, by the UE, whether a 4-step RACH procedure is to be used to further transmit the first signal including the MsgA, and further transmitting, by the UE, the first signal to the gNB using the 4 step RACH procedure based on determining that the 4-step RACH procedure should be used.

Fallback procedure for 2-step RACH

Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are disclosed herein. The UE may receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) that schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a slot, and on a component carrier (CC) of a plurality of CCs. The PDCCH may include a total downlink assignment index (DAI) and a counter DAI for hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) feedback of the PDSCH. The total DAI may indicate a total number of pairs of CCs and slots for the HARQ-ACK feedback. The UE may encode the HARQ-ACK feedback to include a bit that indicates whether the PDSCH is successfully decoded. A size of the HARQ-ACK feedback may be based on the total DAI, and a position of the bit may be based on the counter DAI.

Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) based on codeblock groups in new radio systems

Systems, apparatus, user equipment (UE), evolved node B (eNB), computer readable media, and methods are described for scheduling of multiple uplink transmissions in unlicensed spectrum. One embodiment involves receiving, at an eNB, a first uplink scheduling request from a UE, scheduling a plurality of uplink subframes on the unlicensed channel in response to the first uplink scheduling request, and initiating transmission of a first subframe to the first UE in response to the scheduling of the plurality of uplink subframes, wherein the first subframe comprises one or more downlink control indicators (DCIs) allocating the plurality of uplink subframes to the first UE.

Multi-subframe uplink scheduling in unlicensed spectrum

A user equipment (UE) may include one or more processors that are configured to cause UE capability information to be communicated to a radio access network (RAN) node, regarding a maximum number of blind decode attempts (BDAs) supported by the UE. The one or more processors are configured to determine, based on the maximum BDAs, shortened channel control elements (sCCEs) to be used, by the RAN node, to transmit shortened downlink control information (sDCI) via a shortened physical downlink control channel (sPDCCH) and obtain sDCI by monitoring the sPDCCH in accordance with the determined sCCEs.

Techniques discussed herein can facilitate transmission and reception of group common PDCCH (Physical Downlink Control Channel) for NR (New Radio). One example embodiment employable by a UE (User Equipment) comprises processing circuitry configured to: process higher layer signaling that configures a set of combinations for slot formats for the UE; detect, via blind decoding on at least a portion of a control resource set, a DCI (Downlink Control Information) message that indicates a combination for slot formats of the set of combinations for slot formats via a SFI (slot format indicator); and determine a slot format for one or more slots based on the indicated combination for slot formats, wherein the slot format indicates, for each symbol of the one or more slots, whether that symbol is DL (Downlink), UL (Uplink), or a flexible symbol in the slot format.

Transmission of group common PDCCH (physical downlink control channel) for NR (new radio)

Techniques for channel state information (CSI) reporting are discussed. One example apparatus at a user equipment can derive, for one or more subframes of a license assisted access (LAA) secondary cell (SCell), one or more channel measurements based on reference signals (e.g., cell-specific reference signals (CRS) or CSI reference signals (CSI-RS)), in those subframes; generate CSI that comprises a channel quality indicator (CQI) based on an average of the one or more channel measurements from multiple subframes comprising a first subframe and a later second subframe, wherein each orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of a second slot of the first subframe is occupied, wherein each of a first three OFDM symbols of the second subframe are occupied, and wherein each OFDM symbol between the first subframe and the second subframe is occupied; and generate a CSI report that indicates the set of CSI parameters.

Described are mechanisms and methods for supporting Channel State Information (CSI) measurement and reporting, and for supporting Radio Resource Management (RRM) measurement and reporting, under License Assisted Access (LAA) with dynamic power sharing. An eNB may comprise one or more processors to generate a maximum number of Component Carriers (CCs) and a number of active CCs to a UE. The eNB may then be operable to process a reported quality rating from the UE and generate a scaled quality rating based upon the reported quality rating, the maximum number of CCs, and the number of active CCs.
