An apparatus and method for receiving and displaying a television signal and a data signal in a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a display unit with a video data display area and a user data display area. The mobile terminal determines in a standby mode whether it is set to a television mode or communication mode. If the mobile terminal is set to the television mode, it controls a tuner to select a desired television channel. The mobile terminal stores video data of a current frame received over the selected channel and user data corresponding to the selected channel in a memory unit, outputs video data of a previous frame stored in the memory unit to the video data display area of the display unit in a frame period and then outputs the user data stored in the memory unit to the user data display area of the display unit upon completing the output of the video data of the previous frame. In the communication mode, the mobile terminal stops the operation of the tuner and displays user data generated in the communication mode in the video data display area and user data display area.

Apparatus and method for displaying a television video signal and data in a mobile terminal according to a mode thereof

An apparatus for controlling the operation of a portable terminal having a removable case is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of display units, each of the plurality of display units disposed in at least one of a front surface and a rear surface of the portable terminal, a detecting unit for detecting that at least one of the front or rear surfaces of the portable terminal is proximate to a corresponding cover of the removable case and a controller for activating a display unit disposed in one of the front and rear surfaces of the portable terminal when proximity of a corresponding cover of the removable case to said one of the front and rear surface is not detected. Accordingly, a user's ability to shift between screens is more easily performed and may be performed without a separate key input.

A method and apparatus for displaying a state of current consumption of a battery in a portable terminal are provided. The method includes measuring a value of consumed current at a preset period, supplying the measured current value to an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) through an ADC port, confirming battery compensation offset values by the ADC, determining whether values corresponding to the battery compensation offset values are present in a preset table, and if it is determined that the values are present, calculating a battery voltage level compensation value with reference to the table, applying the battery voltage level compensation value to an actual detected voltage, and displaying a remaining amount of the battery according to the compensation value applied voltage.

Method and apparatus for displaying state of current consumption of a battery in portable terminal

A portable terminal with a cradle is provided. The cradle includes a base unit, a cradling unit assembled to one face of the base unit and rotatable about a rotary axis extending perpendicularly to the one face of the base unit, and at least one cover member pivotally connected to the base unit. If the housing of the terminal is mounted on the cradling unit and rotated together with the cradling unit, the front and rear faces of the housing are reversed. The cradle configured in this manner is advantageous in that its cover member can protect the housing of the terminal and improve structural stability of the slim terminal. In addition, because the cover is used as a support in the extended state, a display device can be variously oriented, so that a user can conveniently use a multimedia service such as a broadcast.

Disclosed herein is an antenna unit with integrated TV and communication antennas for portable communication terminals. The antenna unit comprises a TV antenna and a communication antenna. The TV antenna comprises a rod antenna for receiving a TV signal, and a guide antenna for receiving the TV signal from the rod antenna and transmitting the received TV signal to a TV tuner. The communication antenna comprises a helical antenna for receiving a communication signal, and a connector for receiving the communication signal from the helical antenna and transmitting the received communication signal to a radio frequency (RF) unit.
