A paper cartridge for a printing apparatus includes a cartridge body; a pressure plate moving upward and downward in the cartridge body; a pick-up roller to pick up the paper stacked on the pressure plate; a spring to elastically bias the pressure plate toward the pick-up roller; a claw unit to support a front end of the paper stacked on the pressure plate and separate the paper picked up by the pick-up roller sheet by sheet; and a cover member pivotably disposed at the paper cartridge, to cover the paper stacked on the pressure plate to prevent the paper from being contaminated with foreign material such as dust.

A method and device for discharging paper, the paper discharging device having a rotary shaft rotating by a driving source, a hollow shaft into which the rotary shaft is slidably inserted, the hollow shaft rotating with the rotary shaft and reciprocating on the rotary shaft, a driving shaft disposed at a predetermined distance from and parallel to the rotary shaft to rotate with the rotary shaft, a driven gear rotatably disposed at the driving shaft and engaging a driving gear on an end of the rotary shaft, an electrical clutch selectively transmitting rotation power of the driven gear to the driving shaft, and a reciprocating portion reciprocating the hollow shaft according to rotation of the driving shaft. The paper is discharged in an oblique, rightward, or leftward direction with respect to a discharging direction due to the reciprocal movement of the hollow shaft, thereby stacking the paper on a stacker in a zigzag fashion.

Paper discharging device of image forming apparatus and method thereof

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image forming units, each unit developing a latent image formed on a respective photosensitive drum with a respective color toner to form an image on a sheet of paper. The image forming apparatus includes an exposing optical device for projecting light on the photosensitive drums, a first movable mirror for reflecting the light along a first optical path and a second movable mirror for reflecting the light reflected from the first movable mirror to a selected photosensitive drum along a second optical path. The first and second movable mirrors move so that the optical path lengths are constant irrespective of the position of the selected photosensitive drum. Latent images, each having a uniform size, are formed on the photosensitive drums.
