A thermal transfer sheet having a base sheet; a thermal transfer dye layer formed on the front side of the base sheet; and a heat resisting and lubricating layer formed on the reverse side of the base sheet. Even if the thermal transfer dye layer contains an indoaniline dye, deterioration in the indoaniline dye can be prevented, the preservability of the thermal transfer can be maintained, fusion of the thermal transfer sheet to a thermal head can be prevented and smooth movement of the thermal transfer sheet is enabled. Thus, sticking which occurs during a printing operation can be prevented. The thermal transfer sheet according to the present invention has a base sheet; a thermal transfer dye layer formed on the right side of the base sheet; and a heat resisting and lubricating layer formed on the reverse side of the base sheet, wherein the thermal transfer dye layer contains an indoaniline dye, and the heat resisting and lubricating layer contains polyoxyethylene sorbitol fatty acid ester and phosphoric ester at a weight ratio of 10:1 to 1:2.

The present invention provides a thermal printing sheet which enables to realize a stable low friction coefficient within a heating range by a thermal head and which has a superior preservation stability without giving an adverse affect to dye layers. The thermal printing sheet according to the present invention includes a substrate sheet 1, on one side of which are formed thermal dye layers 2 and on the other side of which is formed a heat resistant slide layer 3. The heat resistant slide layer 3 contains polyoxyalkylene sorbite fatty acid ester which exhibits a superior lubrication characteristic, enabling to obtain a low friction coefficient even under a high temperature. Moreover, the polyoxyalkylene sorbite fatty acid ester is neutral and does no adversely affect the dye layers. The heat resistant slide layer 3, in addition to the polyoxyalkylene sorbite fatty acid ester, may contain polyglycerin fatty acid ester and metallic soap.

A printing paper for use in sublimation-type thermal transfer recording includes a sheet-like base and a dye receiving layer disposed thereon. The dye receiving layer is composed of a copolymer of substituted or unsubstituted phenoxypolyethylene glycol acrylate or substituted or unsubstituted phenoxypolyethylene glycol methacrylate and another monomer. The substituted or unsubstituted phenoxypolyethylene glycol acrylate or the substituted or unsubstituted phenoxypolyethylene glycol methacrylate is of a proportion of at least 50 weight % of the copolymer.

Disclosed herein is a method for recovering binder resin from the ink layer of ink ribbon, said method comprising collecting ink ribbon having an ink layer consisting of dye and binder resin, dissolving the ink layer of ink ribbon in a solvent in which dye and binder resin are soluble, freeing the resulting solution of insoluble matter, concentrating the solution, pouring the resulting concentrate into a solvent in which dye is soluble but binder resin is substantially insoluble, thereby precipitating binder resin, and separating and drying precipitates. By concentrating the solution remaining after precipitation of binder resin and drying the concentrate, it is possible to recover dye. Disclosed also herein is an apparatus for recovering dye and binder resin according to said method.

A printing sheet of the type which is used in a thermal transfer system, the printing sheet comprising a support and a dye receiving layer formed thereon, the dye receiving layer including a polymer containing isocyanate group, the polymer having polysiloxane unit and urea unit. The isocyanate group-containing polymer is selected from a reaction product between a multifunctional polyisocyanate compound and amino-modified silicone, or a reaction product between a multifunctional polyisocyanate compound and alcohol-modified silicone or carboxyl-modified silicone and an amine compound or water. According to the present invention, both the writing characteristic and anti-sebaceous characteristic on an image surface are improved simultaneously while basic characteristics such as printing sheet sensitivity, image preservative stability, and so on, are satisfied.

Disclosed is Printing paper which incorporates a sheet substrate and a dye-receiving layer wherein the dye-receiving layer contains a vinylphenolic resin and a dyeable resin or contains a polymer of a vinylphenolic resin, a butyral resin and a poly-functional isocyanate. The printing paper is used in thermal sublimation transfer recording and gives an image with improved storing characteristics in terms of the light resistance, dark fading resistance, sebum resistance, plasticizer resistance, etc.

The layer (2) comprises an isocyanate group-containing polymer having at least one polysiloxane moiety and at least one urethane bond site therein. The isocyanate group-containing polymer is a reaction product between polyfunctional polyisocyanate compound and alcohol-modified silicone. A method for making such a sheet is also described.

A printing sheet which is adapted for use in thermal transfer recording comprises a substrate and a dye image-receiving layer formed on the substrate. The layer is made of a resin composition comprising a thermoplastic resin, an alcohol-modified silicone and an isocyanate compound. The thermoplastic resin is preferably a cellulose ester or a polyester and the isocyanate compound is preferably a mixture of aromatic and aliphatic isocyanates at an equivalent ratio of 0.1:1 to 5:1. The printing sheet has an improved sebum resistance without lowering writing properties while ensuring good fundamental characteristics such as sensitivity and image stability.
