A pneumatic device selection system has a computer, first through sixth databases connected to the computer and storing data of at least pneumatic devices, a coordinate input unit and a keyboard connected to the computer, for entering input data based on an input action of an operator into the computer, and a display unit connected to the computer, for displaying information from the computer. The pneumatic device selection system functionally has a first selection processor for selecting a cylinder operating system based on input data from the coordinate input unit or the like, and a second selection processor for selecting a shock absorber based on input data from the coordinate input unit or the like and/or a selection result from the first selection processor.

A stroke time of a piston from excitation of a solenoid valve for driving the piston of a pneumatic cylinder to arrival at an end position thereof and a velocity of the piston at the arrival of the piston at the end position are determined by a simulation calculating unit for several load rates of the pneumatic cylinder for a plurality of determined combinations of the solenoid valve, a speed controller, the pneumatic cylinder, and tubes for connecting therebetween. The stroke time and velocity of the piston determined by the simulation calculating unit for each of the load rates for each of the plurality of combinations are displayed in a superimposed manner on a display unit with a display control means based on a stroke of the pneumatic cylinder.

Devices are temporarily selected by using the stored device data, and then computation is performed by using the stored calculating equations, thereby allowing device selection to be made easily. In addition, a block diagram of the fluid pipeline network can be made easily.
