Imaging members useful in electrostatographic apparatuses, including printers, copiers, other reproductive devices, and digital apparatuses. More particularly, imaging members having nano polymeric gel particles embedded into one or more layers of the imaging member that provide for increased mechanical strength and improved wear.

Embodiments herein comprise a charging station adjacent a photoreceptor. The charging station is adapted to charge the document zone of the photoreceptor with a first negative voltage and to charge the inter-document zone of the photoreceptor with a second negative voltage that is more negative than the first negative voltage. The second more negative voltage reduces the amount of positive charges trapped within layers of the inter-document zone of the photoreceptor. Thus, when the charging station increases the size of the document zone from a smaller size associated with a smaller printing medium to a larger size associated with a larger printing medium, by reducing the positive charges from being trapped within layers of the inter-document zone of the photoreceptor, ghosting is reduced on the larger printing medium.

Photoreceptor charging systems and methods

A method for removing a residue, such as lateral charge migration (LCM) film, from an imaging member includes contacting at least a portion of the imaging member with a wash liquid capable of removing the residue. The wash liquid containing the residue is then removed, for example, by applying an absorbent material such as a toner, to the contacted portion of the imaging member.

Imaging members

A method including: (a) dispensing an electrically conductive liquid into a contact member permeable to the liquid; (b) rubbing the contact member and a surface against each other, at a contact length greater than a tangential contact length, to release the liquid from the contact member to wet the surface with the electrically conductive liquid in a layer ranging in thickness from about 1 to about 100 micrometers; and (c) electrifying the liquid at any time effective for imparting an electrical charge to the surface.

Photoconductive imaging members

This invention pertains to an electrographic photosensitive material comprising a blocking layer, an electroconductive substrate layer and a charge generation layer, where the blocking layer comprises TiO with an average particle size less than about 50 nm and a quaternary ammonium salt, and where the quaternary ammonium salt is uniformly distributed in the blocking layer and is less than about 5 wt % of the blocking layer. In another aspect, this invention pertains to an image forming apparatus for forming images on a recording medium comprising an imaging light having a wavelength and an organic photoreceptor having a blocking layer, an electroconductive substrate layer, and a charge generation layer, where the blocking layer comprises TiO particles and a quaternary ammonium salt, and where the quaternary ammonium salt is uniformly distributed in the blocking layer and is less than about 5 wt % of the blocking layer.
