A method to provide secure operation of a lighting network, the lighting network comprising a lighting device arranged for illuminating an environment and a local controller for controlling the lighting device, wherein the lighting network is further controllable by an external controller, external to the lighting network, wherein the method comprises: determining a configuration status of the lighting network, analyzing the determined configuration status, switching an operational mode of the lighting network between a normal mode and a secured mode based on the analysis; wherein in the normal mode, the lighting network is operably connected to the external controller, and a light rendering function of the lighting device is being controlled by the external controller according to a predetermined set of functions, and wherein in the secured mode, the light rendering function of the lighting device is being controlled by the external controller according to a subset of the predetermined set of functions.

Method to provide secure operation of a lighting network

A lighting device (31) is configured to determine a group of service-providing devices (41-44) and determine a schedule for the service-providing devices in the group. The group (101) comprises at least two service-providing devices capable of performing a similar or a same lighting service. The schedule indicates for each service-providing device of the group in which time period the service-providing device is able to receive messages such that at least one device of the determined group of service-providing devices is able to receive messages. The lighting device is configured to transmit the schedule to the service-providing devices.

Determining a duty schedule for a group of lighting devices providing a similar lighting service

A controller handles control events in a system of networked home devices by: receiving a signal indicative of a control event, which is an actuation of a user input device; and in response, determining whether to perform a control function associated with a networked home device, that determination being made in dependence on a state of interaction between that device and a physical environment in which it is located at a time of the control event. If the control function is performed in response to the control event, it causes the networked home device to perform an action that changes the state of interaction between that device and the physical environment in which it is located. Otherwise, the controller causes another control function associated with a different networked home device of the system to be performed in response to the control event instead.

The present invention relates to an improved method of controlling interaction between network-enabled devices. In a network comprising multiple control devices, the selection of a control device can enable the mitigation of privacy risks and security risks and can further avoid frequent communications between network-enabled devices and an internet-based service (which increase power usage) as well as prevent devices becoming uncontrollable (based on failure of the network-enabled devices to connect to an internet-based service for control). The method comprises the steps of a user selecting an interaction schedule () and selection of a control device () as well as configuration of devices (), based on said interaction scenario and said control scenario.

Configuring interaction control in multi-controller network

A spatial relationship is determined between a first image of a first region of a physical space, and a second image of a second region of that space; and the first and second images are thereby stitched together into a composite image comprising first and second areas derived from the first and second images respectively. Further, there is detected an embedded signal having been embedded in light illuminating at least part of the first region of the physical space upon capture of the first image, the embedded signal conveying metadata relating to at least part of the physical space. An effect applied to at least part of the first area of the composite image based on the detected metadata; and also, based on the detected metadata and on the determined spatial relationship between the first and second images, the effect is applied to at least part of the second area of the composite image that extends beyond the first area.

Metadata in multi image scenes

A user can control a plurality of lighting devices by positioning them in a configuration (e.g. a circular configuration). Through receiving the positions of the lighting devices a shape of the configuration can be determined. From a set of light scenes, each light scene associated with a shape, a light scene can be selected matching the shape of the configuration. The plurality of lighting devices are then controlled based on the selected light scene. This allows a user to select, for example, a romantic light scene by placing the lighting devices in a heart shape symbol.

A system comprising: one or more road-side illumination sources arranged to emit illumination to illuminate at least part of a road; one or more detectors arranged to detect a value of one or more parameters of a vehicle travelling on this road or this part of the road, the one or more parameters comprising a type of the vehicle and/or an identity of one or more users of the vehicle; and a controller arranged to control the illumination emitted by the one or more illumination sources, wherein the controller is configured to adapt the illumination in dependence on the detected value or values of the one or more detected parameters.

The controller is configured to: identify presence of a user and at least one further user based on the signal output from the sensor; determine lighting preferences of the users; detect an orientation of the users based on the signal from the sensor; estimate a field of view (FOV) of the users based on the detected orientation of the users; determine that at least one light source is positioned to emit light in both the FOVs of the users, arbitrate between the lighting preferences of the users to determine light settings to be applied to the at least one light source, and control said at least one light source based on the determined light settings.

A controller for controlling a plurality of lighting devices to emit light, each in dependence on at least one respective setting, the controller being configured to perform operations of: obtaining image data representing a corneal image, captured by a camera, formed by light reflected into the camera from at least a portion of at least one cornea of a user; based on the corneal image, automatically determining updates to the respective settings of one or more of the lighting devices; controlling said one or more lighting devices in accordance with the updates; and repeating these steps of obtaining, determination and control so as to dynamically adapt the settings of the lighting devices as the user moves.
