An electrical power interconnection system is described. The electrical interconnection system may comprise an electrical power connector and a substrate, such as a printed circuit board. The electrical power connector may comprise a housing and a plurality of electrical power contacts supported by the housing. The electrical power contacts may comprise a mounting end, a mating end, and a contact body disposed between the mounting end and the mating end. The electrical power contacts may have planar portions. The mating ends may comprise opposing first second beams defining a slot. The slot may be configured to receive the substrate therein, such that the first beam contacts the first side of the substrate and the second beam contacts the second side of the substrate.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for supporting first and second electrical connectors on a substrate. For instance, the first electrical connector includes electrical contacts that are configured to be mounted to the substrate. The second electrical connector includes electrical contacts that are configured to be mounted to a complementary electrical component other than the substrate. The second electrical connector is thus configured to be attached to the first electrical connector, such that the second electrical is supported by the substrate without being mounted to the substrate.

An electrical connector can include a connector housing including a housing body that can define an opening that is configured to receive a complementary electrically conductive component along a mating direction. The electrical connector can further include at least one contact member that is supported by the connector housing and is configured to contact the complementary electrically conductive component when the complementary electrically conductive component is received in the opening. The at least one contact member can include an arm having a proximate portion, a distal portion, and an intermediate portion between the proximal and distal portions. The intermediate portion can be spaced outward with respect to each of the proximate and distal portions, and the intermediate portion can bear against the retention rib so as to retain the at least one contact member with respect to the connector housing.

An electrical assembly can include one or more electrical connectors. Each electrical connector can include at least a first connector housing supporting a plurality of electrical power contacts and a second connector housing supporting a plurality of electrical signal contacts. Each of the first and second connector housings can define respective receptacles that are open on respective opposed sides of the first and second connector housings. Each electrical connector can further include at least one, such as a plurality of closure members configured to close the receptacles at respective lateral sides of the first and second connector housings. The closure members of the first and second electrical connectors can comprise at least one or all of end members, interconnect members, and spacer members.

An electrical connector including electrical terminals, and a housing. The housing includes a first housing member and a second housing member. The second housing member includes terminal receiving areas which house the electrical terminals. The second housing member includes projections into the terminal receiving areas to limit forward movement of the electrical terminals in the terminal receiving areas. The first housing member includes a plurality of projections respectively extending into each of the terminal receiving areas to limit rearward movement of the electrical terminals in the terminal receiving areas. The electrical terminals float in the terminal receiving areas between the projections of the first housing member and the projections of the second housing member.

A connector assembly that includes an electrical connector and an electrically conductive busbar. The connector can include a housing that defines a receptacle, a first row of at least one power contact, and a second row of at least one power contact at a location spaced from the first row along a first direction. Each power contact of the first and second rows can define at least two mating ends that are at least partially disposed in the receptacle so as to define a slot that extends between the mating ends of the first row and the mating ends of the second row. The housing can include a first attachment member. The electrically conductive busbar can include a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and an attachment member that is configured to mate with the first attachment member so as to attach the busbar to the housing.

An electrical connector may retain a substrate in secure, mating engagement with the electrical connector. The electrical connector can include at least one attachment member that is configured to be received in an aperture that extends through the substrate.

An electrical connector assembly includes first and second electrical connectors that include complementary guidance members and complementary latch members that engage when the first and second electrical connectors are mated.

Straddle mount connector

An electrical power connector can include a connector housing having a front end defining a mating interface that includes a receptacle defined by opposing first and second surfaces. The interface can further include a plurality of first dividers that extend from the first surface and into the receptacle, and a plurality of second dividers that extend from the second surface and into the receptacle. The connector can further include a first row of contact beams and a second row of contact beams supported by the housing. Each contact beam of the first and second rows extends at least partially into the receptacle. The contact beams of the first row are separated from each other by the first dividers, and the contact beams of the second row are separated from each other by the second dividers such that a minimum creep distance between adjacent contact beams is greater than 1.0 mm.

A card-edge connector has a housing that includes a housing body, and a plurality of electrical contacts carried by the housing body. The electrical contacts include a plurality of electrical signal contacts and a plurality of electrical power contacts. The electrical signal contacts are sized thinner than the electrical power contacts. The card-edge connector includes a mounting fastener extending out from only one side wall of the housing body at a location adjacent the electrical signal contacts.
