Multilayer articles that include electrical circuits are prepared by the adhesive transfer of electrical circuit elements to the surface of an adhesive. A number of different methodologies are used, with all of the methodologies including the use of simple layers of circuit-forming material on a releasing substrate and structuring to generate circuit elements which can be transferred to an adhesive surface. In some methodologies, a structured releasing substrate is used to selectively transfer circuit-forming material, either from protrusions on the releasing substrate or from depressions on the releasing substrate. In other methodologies, an unstructured releasing substrate is used and either embossed to form a structured releasing substrate or contacted with a structured adhesive layer to selectively transfer circuit-forming material.

Preparation of electrical circuits by adhesive transfer

The present invention provides a display seal for a force-based sensor assembly that includes a flexible membrane having inner and outer surfaces, and first and second sides. The first side of the membrane is capable of being mounted to a housing of the assembly, such as a frame or bezel, and the second side of the membrane is capable of being mounted to a touch surface of a touch sensitive structure of the assembly. The seal, when mounted to the housing and the screen, is capable of creating a seal around the screen without passing extraneous forces to the transducers.

Sealed force-based touch sensor

A light emitting diode (LED) array comprises an array of LEDs mounted to a substrate. The LEDs emit light in a direction generally perpendicular to the substrate. An optical sheet is disposed over the LEDs. At least a portion of light entering one side of the optical sheet from the LEDs is guided within the optical sheet in a direction generally parallel to the substrate. Light extraction features direct light from the optical sheet in a generally forward direction. Such an array is useful for several applications, including space lighting, direct information display and backlighting of liquid crystal displays. The light spreading effect of the optical sheet reduces the amount of black space between LED pixels.

LED array systems

Patterning an organic light emitting diode (OLED) after it has been encapsulated by permanently changing the light emissivity of the diodes. The OLED includes an intervening layer between a source of laser treatment and a light emitting layer. Depending on the composition of the light emitting layer, the laser treatment will enhance or diminish brightness.

The present application discloses filters and methods of making filters. In one aspect, a filter comprises a multilayer optical film (MOF) having a first reflection band, the MOF including distorted portions, the distorted portions having a second reflection band different from the first reflection band, a transparent outer layer disposed on a first side of the MOF, and an IR blocking material residing on the MOF and between the transparent outer layer and the MOF, wherein the IR blocking material is selectively disposed in the distorted portions. In another aspect, a method of producing a filter comprises the steps of providing a multilayer optical film (MOF) having a first reflection band, distorting portions of the MOF, the distorted portions having a second reflection band, different from the first reflection band, and transferring a layer of IR blocking material to the distorted portions of the MOF.

Patterning an organic light emitting diode (OLED) after it has been encapsulated by permanently changing the light emissivity of the diodes. An illumination assembly includes a heat dissipating member having a plurality of circuitized strips disposed thereon a spaced relationship. Each circuitized strip includes an electrically insulative substrate having at least one circuit trace on a first side of the substrate and an electrically and thermally conductive layer on a second side of the substrate, such that the at least one circuit trace is electrically insulated from the second side of the substrate. The circuitized strips have a plurality of vias extending from the first side to the second side of the substrate. A plurality of LEDs are disposed in the plurality of vias, such that each LEDs is disposed on the electrically and thermally conductive layer on the second side of the substrate and electrically connected to the at least one circuit trace on the first side of the substrate.

Illumination assembly using circuitized strips

An illumination assembly including a thermally conductive substrate, a reflective layer proximate a first major surface of the thermally conductive substrate, a patterned conductive layer positioned between the reflective layer and the first major surface of the thermally conductive substrate and electrically isolated from the thermally conductive substrate, and at least one LED including a post that is attached to the thermally conductive substrate is disclosed. The at least one LED can be thermally connected to the thermally conductive substrate through the post and electrically connected to the patterned conductive layer.

Illumination assembly and method of making same

An illumination assembly including a thermally conductive substrate, a patterned conductive layer proximate a major surface of the thermally conductive substrate, a dielectric layer positioned between the patterned conductive layer and the major surface of the substrate, and at least one LED including a post that is attached to the thermally conductive substrate such that at least a portion of the post is embedded in the thermally conductive substrate is disclosed. The at least one LED can be thermally connected to the thermally conductive substrate through the post and electrically connected to the patterned conductive layer. The dielectric layer can be reflective.

A system for increasing areal recording density in linear magnetic recording systems employs a continuous servo track and an azimuth recording technique. The system comprises multiple motors that displace parallel read/write heads at supplementary angles to the servo track when the head is positioned over adjacent data tracks. The resultant tracks may be very closely spaced together without loss of accurate tracking.

Method and apparatus for servo controlled azimuth data recording

A laser imaging system for direct imaging with high optical power density a series of pixels forming an image on a media surface, The laser imaging system includes a laser light source, wherein the laser light source emits a laser beam representative of the image on the media surface. An optical path is defined between the laser light source and the media surface. A scanner is provided having a mirrored surface positioned along the optical path. An optical assembly is positioned along the optical path for shaping and focusing the laser beam at the media surface, including an F-Theta lens assembly positioned along the optical path between the scanner and the media surface. The F-Theta lens assembly includes a spheric lens, an aspheric lens and a toric lens, providing an increase in optical power density at the media surface.

Direct laser imaging system

A tape servo system includes tape having bands of tracks including at least one data band having a plurality of data tracks of track pitch P and a servo band dedicated for servo information. The servo band includes two or more noncontiguous servo tracks with each pair of adjacent servo tracks of the two or more noncontiguous servo tracks having a center to center separation equal to M*P, wherein M for each pair of adjacent servo tracks may be any integer&gE;2. The system may further include a head assembly having a single magnetoresistive read element tapped to provide at least (K&plus;1) tapped servo read elements for use in reading servo information written to the servo band; wherein K is equal to the integer M for the pair of adjacent servo tracks having the greatest center to center separation and a repositioning assembly for repositioning the head assembly as a function of the servo information. Further, the center to center separation between pairs of adjacent servo tracks of the two or more noncontiguous servo tracks may be different for at least two pairs of adjacent servo tracks. A servo tracking data recording tape with two or more noncontiguous servo tracks having center to center separation between pairs of adjacent servo tracks being different for at least two pairs of adjacent servo tracks is also provided along with a method for servo track identification for use therewith. Further, track read/write head assemblies wherein the servo read and write elements are along the same gap lines as the data read and write assemblies, respectively, are provided.

Drive for handling multiple size information storage media cartridges and cartridges therefor

A servo track recording tape includes a plurality of data tracks and a servo band dedicated for servo information. The servo band includes substantially uniformly written servo carrier information across a predetermined servo carrier width along the length of the tape with at least one encoded track pitch defined therein. Each encoded track pitch has alternating erased and non-erased portions along the length of the tape for defining servo tracks. The alternating erased and non-erased portions of the at least one encoded track pitch include encoded information provided by varying the length of one or more of the erased portions. The encoded information may be representative of tape locations along the length of the tape. The servo band may include two or more encoded track pitches defined in the substantially uniformly written servo carrier information with each encoded track pitch defining corresponding servo tracks. The alternating erased and non-erased portions of each of the two or more encoded track pitches may include encoded information uniquely identifying the corresponding servo tracks. Another servo tracking data recording tape includes a servo band including at least one single frequency servo track written in an erased width of the servo band along the length of the tape. The single frequency servo track includes encoded blocks of information along the length of the tape representative of at least one characteristic of the tape. Systems, head assemblies and encoding methods for use in providing such encoded servo track recording tape configurations are also described.
