The disclosure provides an optical waveguide, a manufacturing method of an optical waveguide, and a head-mounted display device. The optical waveguide has a first optical region and a second optical region for transmitting an image beam. The optical waveguide includes a plate body, multiple first light-guiding optical elements, and multiple optical microstructures. The first light-guiding optical elements are disposed in parallel lines on a light-guiding plane inside the plate body. The light-guiding plane is located in the first optical region, and there is a spacing between the adjacent first light-guiding optical elements. The image beam transmitted to the light-guiding plane is separated into multiple sub image beams, and the transmission paths of the sub image beams are at least partially different. The optical coupling-out structure is disposed in the plate body and is located in the second optical region.

Optical waveguide, manufacturing method of optical waveguide, and head-mounted display device

A manufacturing method of a waveguide and a head mounted display device having the waveguide are provided. The head mounted display device includes a display unit, a first waveguide and a second waveguide. The display unit is configured to provide an image beam. The first waveguide is located between the display unit and the second waveguide. The first waveguide is configured to transmit the image beam to the second waveguide and adjust a light shape of the image beam to maintain a field angle and expand a pupil in a single dimension. The second waveguide is configured to transmit the image beam to outside of the head mounted display device, and the second waveguide can extend a light transmission path and provide a uniform image beam.

Waveguide and head mounted display device having waveguide

A light homogenizing element includes a light incident surface and at least one diffusion surface, including: a first substrate, a carrier layer, a piezoelectric film, a driving electrode, a light-transmitting layer, and multiple light diffusion microstructures. The first substrate includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other. The carrier layer is located on the first surface of the first substrate and includes a light passing region penetrating the carrier layer, and includes a protruding structure enclosing the light passing region. The light-transmitting layer is provided overlapping on the protruding structure, and the surface of the light-transmitting layer covering the light passing region is the light incident surface. The multiple light diffusion microstructures are provided on the at least one diffusion surface, and projections of the multiple light diffusion microstructures on the light-transmitting layer are located in the light passing region.

Light homogenizing element

An optical waveguide, including a first structural layer, a second structural layer, a first light-guiding element, and multiple second light-guiding elements, is provided. The light-guiding elements are a partially penetrating and partially reflective layer. Multiple first sub-beams in an image beam are transmitted in the first or the second structural layer by a coupling inclined surface. Each first sub-beam forms multiple second sub-beams after being transmitted by the first or the second light-guiding elements. Some of the second sub-beams are coupled out of the optical waveguide by the second light-guiding elements, thereby enabling the image beam to expand in a first direction. For a portion of the visible light waveband, a trend of transmittance of the partially penetrating and partially reflective layer changing as a wavelength increases is opposite to a trend of transmittance of the first structural layer or the second structural layer changing as the wavelength increases.

Optical waveguide

A near-eye optical system, for receiving an image beam, includes an optical waveguide, configured to expand the image beam in a direction, and including a near-eye surface and a structure surface. The structure surface includes a light incident area and is opposite to the near-eye surface. The light incident area is located in a transmission path of the image beam. A plurality of reflective inclined surfaces are disposed on the structure surface and located at one side of the light incident surface and arranged along the direction. The structure surface is sequentially divided into the light incident area and a plurality of optical areas along the direction. A line number density of the reflective inclined surfaces in the optical area closest to the light incident area in the direction is less than a line number density of the reflective inclined surfaces in the optical area furthest from the light incident area in the direction.

Near-eye optical system

A near-eye optical system is configured to receive an image beam. The near-eye optical system includes a first optical waveguide, configured to expand the image beam in a first direction, and including a first surface, a second surface, a plurality of first reflecting slopes, and a plurality of second reflecting slopes. The first surface includes a first light-entering area. The second surface is opposite to the first surface. The second surface includes a concave area aligned with the first light-entering area, the concave area including a flat bottom surface, and a first inclined sidewall and a second inclined sidewall opposite to each other. The first reflecting slopes are disposed on the second surface, and the second reflecting slopes are disposed on the second surface.

A near-eye light field display device, including a display element, a micro-lens array, a first shielding element, and a second shielding element, is provided. The display element is configured to provide an image beam. The micro-lens array is located on a transmission path of the image beam. The micro-lens array has multiple micro-lenses connected to each other. The first shielding element is located between the display element and the micro-lens array, and the first shielding element includes multiple first shielding regions. The micro-lens array is located between the first shielding element and the second shielding element. The second shielding element includes multiple second shielding regions. The first shielding regions and the second shielding regions are located on the transmission path of the image beam passing through a junction of the micro-lenses, and a ratio of diameter of the micro-lenses and a lens pitch of the micro-lenses is less than 0.8.

Near-eye light field display device

A backlight module including a light guide plate, a first light source, and a first optical film is provided. The light guide plate has a light incident surface, a light exiting surface, and a bottom surface, where the light incident surface is connected between the light exiting surface and the bottom surface, the light exiting surface is opposite to the bottom surface, and the bottom surface has a plurality of concentric ring-like first V-shaped microstructures. The first light source is disposed on a side of the light incident surface of the light guide plate, where a center of circle of the first V-shaped microstructures is aligned with the first light source. The first optical film is disposed on a side of the light exiting surface of the light guide plate. The first optical film has a plurality of concentric ring-like second V-shaped microstructures.

Backlight module

A display apparatus includes a display element, a micro lens array, and a first light shielding element. The display element provides sub-image beams. The micro lens array is located in a transmission path of the sub-image beams, and has optical regions and first connection portions. Each first connecting portion is adapted to connect at least two adjacent optical regions, and each optical region is adapted to allow each sub-image beam to penetrate. The first light shielding element is located between the display element and the micro lens array, and has first light shielding regions and first light transmission regions. Each first light transmission region is disposed corresponding to each optical region and is adapted to allow each sub-image beam to penetrate. Each first light-shielding region is disposed corresponding to each first connecting portion and is adapted to prevent each sub-image beams from passing through each first connecting portion.

Display apparatus

An optical transmitting module and a head mounted display device are provided. The optical transmitting module includes a waveguide and a first lens. The waveguide is located on a transmission path of an image beam. The waveguide includes a plurality of beam splitters configured to split the image beam the image beam into a first image beam and a second image beam. The second image beam reflected by the beam splitter is outputted from the waveguide, so as to display a virtual image. The first lens causes a plurality of virtual images displayed by a plurality of the second image beams reflected from different beam splitters at the same angle to coincide on a focal plane of the first lens. The head mounted display device can eliminate a ghost image phenomenon that occurs when the user observes the images displayed in a range closer to the eye.

Optical transmitting module and head mounted display device

A display device comprising a beam splitting element, a polarization modulating element, a light shifting element and a reflective liquid crystal panel is provided. The polarization modulating element is disposed on one side of the beam splitting element along the first direction between the beam splitting element and the light shifting element, the light shifting element is disposed on one side of the polarization modulating element along the first direction between the polarization modulating element and the reflective liquid crystal panel, and the reflective liquid crystal panel is disposed on one side of the light shifting element along the first direction, wherein the beam splitting element receives an illumination beam and allows an image beam to pass through, the illumination beam is reflected in the beam splitting element and transmitted in the first direction.

Display device

A head-mounted display apparatus including a light source module, an optical adjustment element, a display module and a lens element is provided. The light source module provides an illumination beam. The optical adjustment element and the display module are disposed on a transmission path of the illumination beam, and the display module is configured to convert the illumination beam into an image beam. The optical adjustment element is located between the light source module and the display module. The lens element is disposed on a transmission path of the image beam, wherein a transmission direction of the maximum light-emitting intensity of the illumination beam transmitted from the light source module to the optical adjustment element is different to a transmission direction of the maximum light-emitting intensity of the illumination beam transmitted from the optical adjustment element to the display module.

Head-mounted display apparatus with optical adjustment element

A rear projection screen includes a transparent substrate, a light absorbing film and a first diffusion film in sequence from a projection side to a viewer side. The transparent substrate includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other, the first surface faces the projection side, the second surface faces the viewer side, and the first surface is disposed with a plurality of prism structures protruding toward the projection side. The transparent substrate is located between the light absorbing film and the prism structures. The light absorbing film includes a plurality of light absorbing structures arranged at intervals from each other, and the distribution density of the prism structures is greater than that of the light absorbing structures. The light absorbing film is located between the first diffusion film and the transparent substrate. The rear projection screen through the above-mentioned design has a good image display quality.

Rear projection screen

A projection screen, adapted to receive an image beam, includes a transparent substrate, optical pillar structures, a light-scattering layer, Fresnel structures and a light-absorption layer. The transparent substrate has first surface and second surface opposing to each other. The optical pillar structures are located at the first surface, and between the light-scattering layer and the transparent substrate. Each optical pillar structure is arranged along the first direction. The Fresnel structures are located at the second surface, and disposed between the transparent substrate and the light-absorption layer. Each Fresnel structure has a reflective surface and a transmissive surface connected to the reflective surface. The image beam sequentially passes through the light-scattering layer, the optical pillar structures, the transparent substrate and travels to the reflective surfaces, and the image beam is reflected by the reflective surfaces and outputs from the projection screen. The half-gain angle in the first direction falls within 40&#xb0;-85&#xb0;.

Projection screen

A projection screen including a substrate, Fresnel structures and a protective layer is provided. The Fresnel structures are located on a surface of the substrate facing an image-source side and arranged along a first direction. Each Fresnel structure extends along a second direction. The protective layer has a first surface facing the image-source side. The first surface has optical microstructures. The optical microstructures are orthographically projected on a reference plane to form orthographic projection patterns. Each of the orthographic projection patterns has a first axis and a second axis substantially perpendicular to each other. The first axis passes through two end points having a maximum distance in the first direction. The second axis passes through two end points having a maximum distance in the second direction. Each of the orthographic projection patterns is symmetry to at least one of the first axis and the second axis.
