An optical system includes a light-receiving plane, a lens group, a pixel-based diaphragm, and a driving unit. The lens group is configured to direct an incident light to the light receiving plane. The pixel-based diaphragm is at an aperture stop of the lens group. The pixel-based diaphragm includes a first substrate coated with pixelated electrodes; a second substrate coated with an electrode; and an active medium layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. The driving unit is electrically coupled with the pixel-based diaphragm and configured to control the pixel-based diaphragm to have a first light transmitting pattern at a first time duration and a second light transmitting pattern at a second time duration, wherein the first light transmitting pattern is different from the second light transmitting pattern.

A user interaction system includes a platform, comprising: a memory, for storing display contents; and a processor, for transmitting the display contents; and a plurality of see-through displays, coupled to the platform, wherein each see-through display of the plurality of see-through displays comprises: a frame; a controller, arranged on the frame, for receiving the display contents and transmitting a control signal according to the display contents; and a lens, arranged on the frame, for displaying the display contents according to the control signal, comprising: a front side, wherein the display contents is displayed on the front side, allowing passersby to see the display contents; and a back side, wherein ambient light transmits through the lens, allowing a user to see surroundings from the back side.

A directional liquid crystal display, capable of suppressing Moiré patterns, includes a liquid crystal display module; a backlight module with a small divergence angle, for emitting light toward the liquid crystal display module, wherein a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of light energy distribution of the backlight module is less than 50 degrees; and a light directivity module, disposed between the backlight module and the liquid crystal display module.

Directional liquid crystal display

An optical sensing device adopted to use structured light to detect an object is provided. The optical sensing device includes a structured light projector and a sensor. The structured light projector includes a light source and at least one beam multiplication film. The light source is configured to emit a light beam. The at least one beam multiplication film is disposed on a transmission path of the light beam and is made of anisotropic refractive index material, wherein a plurality of separated light beams are produced after the light beam from the light source passes through the at least one beam multiplication film, so as to form the structured light. The sensor is configured to sense the structured light reflected from the object. Besides, a structured light projector is also provided.

Structured light projector

A tunable light projector including the following is provided. A light source is configured to emit a light beam. A fixed optical phase modulator is disposed on a path of the light beam and is configured to modulate phases of the light beam. A tunable liquid crystal panel is disposed on the path of the light beam and a partial region of the tunable liquid crystal panel is configured to electrically switch the light beam between a structured light and a flood light. A driver is configured to control the light source and control the tunable liquid crystal panel to switch the light beam between the structured light and the flood light. The tunable liquid crystal panel includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer; a first electrode layer; and a second electrode layer.

A sensing device includes a sensor, a reflective polarizer disposed on the sensor, a dye-doped polymeric layer disposed on the reflective polarizer, and a patterned liquid crystal polymer layer disposed on the dye-doped polymeric layer.

Sensing device

A liquid crystal element includes a substrate, a diffractive optical element layer, and a liquid crystal material. The diffractive optical element layer has an uneven surface. The liquid crystal material is between the substrate and the uneven surface of the diffractive optical element layer. The liquid crystal material is disposed contiguously with the uneven surface of the diffractive optical element layer.

Optical surface mapping system

A method for performing hybrid depth detection with aid of an adaptive projector and associated apparatus are provided. The method includes: utilizing an image processing circuit to obtain distance information; utilizing the image processing circuit to determine a distance range according to the distance information; utilizing the image processing circuit to perform projection type selection to determine at least one selected projection type corresponding to the distance range among multiple predetermined projection types; utilizing the adaptive projector to perform projection of the at least one selected projection type to capture at least one corresponding image with a camera, and utilizing the image processing circuit to perform depth detection according to corresponding image to generate depth map; and utilizing the image processing circuit to selectively output the depth map as resultant depth map or perform depth data combination to generate combined depth map as resultant depth map.

Method for performing hybrid depth detection with aid of adaptive projector, and associated apparatus

A dimmer includes a liquid crystal (LC) panel and a driving circuit. The LC panel has a plurality of LCs doped with dichroic dye. The LC panel comprises a plurality of pixels. The driving circuit is electrically connected to the LC panel, and configured to control driving of the pixels of the LC panel. At least one of the pixels has a storage capacitor and an LC capacitor coupled in parallel. A ratio of a capacitance value of the LC capacitor to a capacitance value of the storage capacitor is greater than 10:1. The driving circuit is configured to control an LC angle of LCs in each of the pixels, and the dichroic dye is driven by surrounding LCs and presents an angle correlated with the LC angle of the surrounding LCs.

Dimmer

A light projector including a light source, a beam multiplication film, and a tunable wave plate is provided. The light source is configured to emit a light beam. The beam multiplication film is disposed on a transmission path of the light beam and made of anisotropic refractive index material, wherein a plurality of separated light beams are produced after the light beam from the light source passes through the beam multiplication film. The tunable wave plate is disposed on transmission paths of the separated light beams from the beam multiplication film and configured to modulate the separated light beams.

Light projector

A tunable illuminator includes a light source, at least one geometric phase liquid crystal element, and a driver. The light source is configured to emit an illumination beam. The geometric phase liquid crystal element is disposed on a path of the illumination beam and configured to be switched between a first state and a second state, wherein the first state is closer to a geometric phase than the second state is. The driver is configured to respectively apply a first voltage difference and a second voltage difference to the geometric phase liquid crystal element, wherein the geometric phase liquid crystal element is switched to the first state in response to the first voltage difference, the geometric phase liquid crystal element is switched to the second state in response to the second voltage difference, and the first voltage difference is less than the second voltage difference.

Tunable illuminator

A light control element includes a first substrate, a first electrode, a first liquid crystal layer, a second electrode, a second substrate, a first internal conductive object, a first intermediate conductive object and a second internal conductive object. A peripheral area of the second substrate has a first through hole. The first internal conductive object is disposed in a first through hole of the second substrate. The first intermediate conductive object is disposed between the peripheral area of the second substrate and the first substrate, and is electrically connected to the first electrode and the first internal conductive object. The peripheral area of the second substrate further has a second through hole. The second internal conductive object is disposed in the second through hole of the second substrate and is electrically connected to the second electrode.

Optical sensing device and structured light projector

An ocular optical system including an eyewear device and a tunable light attenuator is provided. The tunable light attenuator is disposed on a light path which the eyewear device is disposed on and includes a plurality of cholesteric liquid crystal layers, a plurality of electrode layers, and a controller. Each of the cholesteric liquid crystal layers is disposed between two of the electrode layers. The controller is electrically connected to the electrode layers and configured to adjust voltages applied to the electrode layers so as to operate the cholesteric liquid crystal layers in at least two steps of light attenuation for randomly polarized light with at least one of a blue band and an ultraviolet band.
