A connector assembly includes a receptacle connector and a plug connector. The plug insulative housing includes a body portion having a mating surface, a number of cavities extending through the mating surface and a number of contact-receiving slots. The number of male contacts are divided into groups each of which includes two male contacts in parallel relationship. Each male contact includes a contacting portion residing in corresponding cavity, a mounting portion perpendicular to the contacting portion and an inclined portion connecting the contact portion and the mounting portion. In each group, a distance between the contacting portions is larger than a gap between the inclined portions, and the gap between the inclined portions is no less than a gap between the mounting portions.

Connector assembly with improved contact arrangement

A power contact includes a fixing portion, an engaging arm extending backwardly from a front end of the fixing portion along a first direction and a support member extending towards the engaging arm. The support member is positioned between the engaging arm and the fixing portion along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The rechargeable battery socket includes an insulating housing defining a number of terminal channels, a number of terminals received in the insulating housing, and a shell assembled to one side of the insulating housing. Each terminal includes a contacting portion received in corresponding terminal channel and a tail extending out of the insulating housing. Each terminal channel provides a pair of ribs on two opposite inside faces thereof. The contacting portion of the terminal cooperates with the rib to thereby secure the terminal in the insulating housing.

A connector includes a housing, a mounting block assembled to the housing and a first contact inserted into the mounting block and the housing. The housing includes a receiving space and a first through hole in communication with the receiving space. The mounting block is assembled in the receiving space and includes a second through hole which is aligned with the first through hole. The first contact is inserted into the second through hole and the first through hole in sequence along a rear-to-front direction. The first contact includes an elastic member and the housing and/or the mounting block comprise a stop surface to resist against the elastic member for position restriction.

The receptacle connector includes a receptacle insulative housing and a plurality of female contact groups each of which includes first and second female contacts combined together. Each of the first and second female contacts includes a retaining portion including a first locking portion and a second locking portion. Each first locking portion includes a slit. Each second locking portion includes a positioning portion and an engaging arm. The retaining portions of the first female contact and the second female contact are of the same configuration after rotating 180 degrees. When the first female contact is combined in position with the second female contact, the positioning portion and the slit of the first female contact engage with the slit and the positioning portion of the second female contact, simultaneously.

An electrical connector includes a housing, a number of contacts received in the housing and a spacer for holding the contacts. The housing includes a mating portion and a pair of extensions extending from the mating portion. The pair of extensions and the mating portion jointly form a receiving space to receive the spacer. The spacer includes a horizontal portion and a vertical portion perpendicular to the horizontal portion. The horizontal portion defines a slot through which the contacts extend. The vertical portion includes an inner wall, an outer wall and a channel extending through the inner wall and the outer wall. The outer wall defines a recess opening in communication with the channel. When the contacts are associated with the spacer, the contacts are partly exposed to the recess opening via the channel for robust heat dissipation.

A receptacle connector includes an insulative housing, a number of conductive contacts, and a retainer seat. The insulative housing includes a mating face for mating with a plug connector and a mounting face opposite to the mating face. The insulative housing defines a number of contact-receiving passages penetrating from the mating face to the mounting face and a mounting recess recessed from the mounting face toward the mating face a certain distance. The conductive contacts are respectively received in the contact-receiving passages. Each conductive contact includes a contacting portion for electrically contacting the plug connector, a termination portion for electrically connecting with a Printed Circuit Board, and an intermediate portion connecting the contacting portion with the termination portion. The retainer seat is fixedly received in the mounting recess of the insulative housing.

The receptacle connector includes a receptacle insulative housing and a number of female contact groups fixed in the receptacle insulative housing. The receptacle insulative housing includes a receiving portion, a plurality of mating portions and a pair of locking arms integrally formed at opposite lateral sides of the receptacle insulative housing. The plug connector includes a plug insulative housing and a number of male contacts fixed in the plug insulative housing. The plug insulative housing includes a mating surface, a plurality of cavities and a pair of locking walls located at opposite lateral sides of the plug insulative housing. When the plug connector the receptacle connector are mating with each other, the locking arms are in locking with the locking walls for fixation.

A connector assembly includes a plug connector and a receptacle connector mateable with each other. The plug connector includes a plug insulative housing and a pair of plug power contacts. The plug insulative housing includes a first plug cavity, a first plate cantileveredly extending into the first plug cavity, and upper and lower plug contact slots in communication with the first plug cavity. The pair of plug power contacts are respectively received in the upper and lower plug contact slots. Each plug power contact includes a flat contacting section exposed to the first plug cavity and a first soldering section. The flat contacting sections are positioned on upper and lower surfaces of the first plate, respectively. The plug connector and the receptacle connector define heat dissipation channels in communication with each other in order that generating heat can be effectively dissipated to the air.

A connector includes a housing and a contact module received in the housing. The housing defines a receiving cavity for accommodating a complementary connector, a mounting space communicating with the receiving cavity, and a pair of mounting blocks located at opposite lateral sides of the mounting space. The contact module includes a base and a number of contacts fixed in the base. The base includes a pair of lateral side edges. Each contact includes a retaining portion fixed in the base and a contacting portion extending slantly from the retaining portion into the receiving space of the housing. A power connector includes an insulative housing, at least a pair of power contacts assembled to the at least one contact-receiving passage. The pair of power contacts are arranged oppositely along an up-to-down direction and cooperating with each other. Each of the at least a pair of power contacts includes a cable termination portion, a contacting portion and an intermediate portion connecting the cable termination portion and the contacting portion. One lateral edge of the intermediate portion is a first latching portion, and the other lateral edge of the intermediate portion is a second latching portion. Thus, when the pair of power contacts are assembled together, the first latching portion of one power contact cooperates with the second latching portion of the other power contact, while the second latching portion of the one power contacts cooperates with the first latching portion of the other power contact to form a hollow frame therebetween along an up-to-down direction.

An electrical connector includes a housing member, a first contact group, a second contact group, a metallic shell and a grounding member. The housing member includes a first tongue plate and a second tongue plate to which the first contact group and the second contact group are respectively associated. The first contact group and the second contact group are compatible to USB 3.0 standard. The grounding member comprises a body portion located between the second mounting portions of the first contact group and the third mounting portions of the second contact group. The grounding member is electrically and mechanically connected to the metallic shell for cross-talk prevention.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a number of contacts retained in the insulative housing and a pair of latch members located at lateral sides of the insulative housing. The insulative housing includes a mating portion, a mounting portion and a number of passageways extending therethrough to receive the contacts. Each latch member includes a pivot portion connected to corresponding lateral side of the insulative housing, a locking arm extending forwardly from the pivot portion and a driving portion extending backwardly from the pivot portion. The locking arms are capable of pivoting outwardly along a horizontal direction to a release status under condition that the driving portions are inwardly pressed. With the dual latch members, the electrical connector can be much reliable in locking with a mateable connector.
