In various embodiments, a resin composition includes a urethane (meth)acrylate, a reactive diluent, and a urethane (meth)acrylate toughener. The urethane (meth)acrylate toughener includes at least one additional polyol having a number average molecular weight Mn of greater than 1,000 g/mol. Cured articles made from the resin composition have an average fracture toughness (K) value from 1 MPa*mto 3 MPa*mwhen measured in accordance with ASTM D5045. Processes for making the resin composition as well as processes using the resin composition are also provided.

Toughened urethane acrylate compositions

The present invention relates to methods of controlling hydroformylation processes for producing normal (N) and iso (I) aldehydes at a N:I ratio. In one aspect, a method of controlling a hydroformylation process comprises contacting an olefin with carbon monoxide, hydrogen and a catalyst, the catalyst comprising (A) a transition metal, (B) a monophosphine, and (C) a tetraphosphine having the structure described herein, the contacting conducted in one or more reaction zones and at hydroformylation conditions to produce a blend of normal (N) and iso (I) aldehydes at a N:I ratio, the method comprising at least one of increasing the N:I ratio by adding additional tetraphosphine to a reaction zone; decreasing the N:I ratio by adding additional monophosphine to a reaction zone; or increasing the N:I ratio by volatilization of the free monophosphine.

Methods of controlling hydroformylation processes

A curable resin composition comprising: (1) a urethane (meth)acrylate; (2) a reactive diluent selected from the group consisting of i) a hydroxyl alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer where the acrylate group, which is attached to the carbonyl group, is attached to a hydrogen or a methyl group and the carbonyl group is attached to the hydroxyl group thru an R2 alkylene group containing 2 to 18 carbon atoms per molecule.

Styrene-free reactive diluents for urethane acrylate resin compositions

Controllable-cure urethane acrylate resin compositions are disclosed, comprising (A) a urethane acrylate having free hydroxyalkyl (meth) acrylate prepared from a polyurethane prepolymer having a free terminal isocyanate group and a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, the urethane acrylate having free hydroxyalkyl (meth) acrylate being the reaction product of capping the polyurethane prepolymer in the presence excess of the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, (B) a polyisocyanate-based thickening agent, and optionally an additional hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, wherein the polyisocyanate-based thickening agent (B) and the urethane acrylate having free hydroxyalkyl (meth) acrylate (A), and optionally the additional hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, are present at NCO/OH molar ratio of from 0.2 to 10.0. Methods for making controllable-cure urethane acrylate resin compositions are disclosed.

Controllable-cure urethane acrylate resin compositions and methods of making same

A process for making a curable resin composition comprising the steps of: (1) reacting a) an isocyanate; and b) a polyol mixture with a bimodal distribution of i) a first polyol mixture comprising polyols having an average equivalent weight of from 50 to 400; and ii) a second polyol mixture comprising polyols having an average equivalent weight of from 1000 to 5000 to form a urethane prepolymer; and (2) adding a capping agent to the urethane prepolymer to form the curable resin composition.

The Auelectrode is comprised of ligand-protected Auhaving a structure comprising an icosahedral core of 13 atoms surrounded by a shell of six semi-ring structures bonded to the core of 13 atoms, where each semi-ring structure is typically &#x2014;SR&#x2014;Au&#x2014;SR&#x2014;Au&#x2014;SR or &#x2014;SeR&#x2014;Au&#x2014;SeR&#x2014;Au&#x2014;SeR. The 12 semi-ring gold atoms within the six semi-ring structures are stellated on 12 of the 20 faces of the icosahedron of the Aucore, and organic ligand &#x2014;SR or &#x2014;SeR groups are bonded to the Aucore with sulfur or selenium atoms. The Auelectrode and a counter-electrode are in contact with an electrolyte comprising COand H+, and a potential of at least &#x2212;0.1 volts is applied from the Auelectrode to the counter-electrode.
