A microfluidic apparatus mounted on a rotation driving unit for inducing a fluid to flow due to a centrifugal force includes: a target chamber that houses a first fluid; a first chamber that houses a second fluid and is disposed closer to a rotation center of the microfluidic apparatus in a radius direction than the target chamber, the first chamber being connected to the target chamber by a first channel; a first valve that prevents a flow of the second fluid through the first channel; and a second chamber disposed closer to the rotation center in the radius direction than the target chamber and connected to the target chamber by a second channel, wherein the first fluid is transported to the second chamber by supplying the second fluid to the target chamber by the centrifugal force.

Microfluidic apparatus

Disclosed are sample analysis apparatus and methods. A sample analysis apparatus includes a first unit that rotates a microfluidic apparatus including: a chamber having a space accommodating a sample, a channel that provides a path through which the sample flows; and a valve that selectively opens and closes the channel, a valve driver that supplies energy, used to operate the valve, to the valve in a state of being separated from the microfluidic apparatus, a third unit that rotates the valve driver with respect to a common rotation axis with a rotation axis of the microfluidic apparatus and the third unit, and a control unit that controls the first and third units and the valve driver to supply energy to the valve while the microfluidic apparatus and the valve driver are being rotated at the same rotation speed.

Sample analysis methods and apparatuses and dynamic valve operation methods

A microfluidic apparatus that is mounted on a rotation driver and induces a flow of a fluid according to a centrifugal force includes a lower structure having a microfluidic structure including a recovery chamber for accommodating a target material separated from a sample and a channel for forming an inflow path of the target material to the recovery chamber; an upper plate forming an upper wall of the recovery chamber and the channel; and a lid formed integrally to the upper plate and removable from the upper plate to open at least a part of a top of the recovery chamber.

Microfluidic apparatus with increased recovery rate of target material from a sample

Provided is a microfluidic apparatus that is mounted on a rotation driver and induces a flow of a fluid due to a centrifugal force, the microfluidic apparatus including: a separation unit that separates a target cell from a sample; a recovery chamber that is connected to the separation unit through a recovery channel and accommodates the target cell obtained by the separation; and an inclined portion that is disposed in the recovery chamber and tilted toward a bottom of the recovery chamber along a direction of the centrifugal force.

A device for separating micro particles is provided. The separating device comprises a sample inlet into which a sample containing micro particles is injected; fluid inlets into which fluid is injected to form a flow sheath for the sample; a plurality of outlets through which the micro particles are separated and discharged out; a channel through which the sample and the fluid flow; and a first electrode and a second electrode longitudinally disposed in parallel in the channel. The first and the second electrodes are provided in such a manner that an electrode gap between the first and the second electrodes has a curved shape. The micro particles in the sample are easily separated using a dielectrophoresis characteristic.

Device for separating micro particles and a method for fabricating the device

A device for detecting micro particles in gas, which comprises: an inlet through which a gaseous sample including micro particles flows in; an outlet through which the sample flows out; a channel through which the sample flows from the inlet toward the outlet; a cooling layer which cools and condenses the sample flowing in the channel; a reservoir which is positioned on the cooling layer and collects the condensed sample; a detector which is positioned in the reservoir on the cooling layer and detects the micro particles included in the collected sample; and a heater which heats the outlet portion to produce a pressure difference between the inlet portion and the outlet portion, so that the sample flows through the channel from the inlet toward the outlet. The device for detecting micro particles in gas provides the advantage that micro particles included in gaseous sample can be detected without having to use additional pump or collector, detection time can be reduced, and detection accuracy can be improved.
