Valves are described for intravenous (IV) catheter assemblies for controlling fluidic flow. The valve can prevent blood leakage in multiple access use situations. A thinner area of the valve around a slit is provided. The thicker area of the valve is to provide rigidity to the valve so that it is able to return to a closed configuration when a Luer connector is removed.

Valved catheter assemblies and related methods

A needle assembly includes a catheter hub, a catheter tube extending distally from the catheter hub, and a needle hub having a needle having a needle tip extending out the catheter tube. A protective cap is positioned with the catheter hub and covers the catheter tube and the needle tip. The protective cap has a casing having a casing body, a first opening at a proximal end of the casing body, a proximal cavity having the needle tip and the catheter tube located in the proximal cavity, a second opening at an end opposite the first opening and opening into a distal cavity, and a rim at the second opening. A lid is removably attached to the rim at the second opening to seal a solution inside the distal cavity. The solution is dispensable from the distal cavity following separation of the lid from the rim.

Adhesive encased protective caps for needle devices and related methods

Needle assemblies and related methods are disclosed. The needle assemblies can include a catheter hub and a catheter tube and wherein the catheter hub has a low profile to facilitate attaching the catheter hub to the skins of a patient.

Catheter hub with flexible extended fluid connector and related methods

Needle assemblies and related methods are disclosed having a needle hub with a needle, a catheter tube with a catheter hub and having the needle extending through the catheter tube; and a valve positioned in an interior cavity of the catheter hub, the valve having a first section with a first chord, a second chord, and a plurality of slits defining a plurality of flaps, a second section attached to the first section, and a third section attached to the first section; an inside edge formed on the second section and pressed against the first section; an inside edge formed on the third section and pressed against the first section; and wherein a first flow path is provided adjacent the first chord and a second flow path is provided adjacent the second chord.

Catheter devices with valves and related methods

A needle device, such as a catheter assembly, includes a catheter tube attached to a catheter hub, a needle attached to a needle hub, and an optional needle guard for covering the needle tip in a protective position. Different markets can utilize the same needle device by separately forming an extension clip having a gripping member or gripping pad for attaching to the needle device for those markets that require the gripping member or pad.

Needle devices with adjustable grips and related methods

Aspects of the present disclosure include needle devices in which a needle has a notch or slot. A flashback indicator is provided at least in part in the needle lumen at the notch, adjacent the notch, or partially inside and partially outside of the notch. In use, blood flow through the needle lumen is indicated at the flashback indicator. When used with a catheter tube, the flashback indicator can be viewed through the catheter tube. The needle with the notch and flashback indicator may be used with a variety of needle applications, including as catheter assemblies, indwelling assemblies, and most, if not all, over-the-needle type devices.

Needle devices are described. The needle devices can have a catheter hub, a needle hub, and a valve system for controlling fluid flow through the catheter hub. The valve system can include a valve and a valve retainer. The valve can have flow holes for fluid flow therethrough or can have a valve piece for controlling flow through flow holes located externally of the valve. A needle guard is usable with the needle device to block a tip of the needle. A valve opener can also be used to open the valve.

Catheter devices with seals and related methods

Needle devices are described. The needle devices can have a catheter hub, a needle hub, a housing located between the catheter hub and the needle hub. The housing can have an engagement mechanism to removably attach the housing to the catheter hub. The housing can further include a release element to release the engagement mechanism from the catheter hub to disengage the housing from the catheter hub. A flow regulator can be positioned inside the catheter hub. The flow regulator can include a stem and a sleeve.

Catheter devices with needle guards and related methods

The present disclosure is directed to a needle assembly for drawing blood. The needle assembly can be a standalone or part of an over-the-needle medical device, such as an intravenous catheter. A blood collection device is attached directly or indirectly to the needle hub of the needle assembly and/or to a catheter hub, such as through a Y-site or adaptor connected to a tubing that is connected to the catheter hub. The needle is configured to access the vascular system to draw blood, which then passes to the blood collection device via the needle lumen, which has a tip having a discontinuity opening, an opening with a movable stem, or a shaft element with a lumen.

Vascular access blood collection devices and related methods

A needle safety device is disclosed in which a needle guard has several biasing arms that are biased by the needle shaft in a ready to use position. But in a protective position, at least one of the biasing arms is no longer biased by the needle shaft and moves to block a distal opening of the needle guard. The needle has a change in profile for engaging an opening on a proximal wall in a protective position. The needle guard may be formed from a stamped metal sheet having a plurality of cuts or clits. A catheter hub with a catheter tube can further be added for a safety catheter assembly.
