The present invention in general relates to acrylate end-capped urethane-based polymers, which are in particular characterized by the presence of at least 3 acrylate end-groups, thereby making them particularly suitable for further processing using multiple kinds of technologies such as 2-photon polymerization, stereolithography (SLA printing), electrospinning, film casting, porogen leaching, extrusion based 3D-printing, spray drying, cryogenic treatment, coatings, cross-linkable micelles, spincoating, and electrospraying.

Acrylate end-capped urethane- or urea-based polymers

Provided in the invention is an adhesion promoter (AP) that is the reaction product of: (i-1) at least one hydroxyl functional (meth)acrylated compound bearing at least two (meth)acryloyl groups, (i-2) optionally, at least one hydroxyl functional (meth)acrylated compound bearing one (meth)acryloyl group (ii), at least one titanium orthoester (ii-a) and/or at least one zirconium orthoester (ii-b), and, (iii) optionally, at least one other compound (iii) that is capable to react with hydroxyl groups. Materials of the invention are suitable for use in coating compositions, inks, paints, varnishes (including overprint varnishes), adhesives (including laminating adhesives), for the making of composites, molding compositions or 3D articles. Materials of the invention are suitable for use in inks and coating compositions (clear or pigmented).

Adhesion promoting compounds for apolar substrates

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a polyester (meth)acrylate resin (I), said process comprising the steps of: (a) Reacting a thermoplastic polyester with (a1) at least one polyhydric alcohol and, optionally, with (a2) at least one triglyceride, wherein the molar ratio of triglyceride to thermoplastic polyester is between 0 and 0.3, and the molar ratio of polyhydric alcohol to thermoplastic polyester is at most 1.9 to obtain a depolymerization product A that has a hydroxyl number within the range of from 200 to 800 mg KOH/g; (b) Reacting the depolymerization product A with (b1) at least one fatty acid and/or (b2) at least one polybasic carboxylic acid and, optionally, with (b3) at least one polyhydric alcohol to provide a polyester polyol B; (c) Reacting the polyester polyol B with (c) at least one (meth)acrylating compound to provide a (meth)acrylated compound (I), wherein the weight ratio of fatty acid (b1) to the depolymerization product A is between 0 and 0.6, wherein the weight ratio of polybasic carboxylic acid (b2) to the depolymerization product A is less than 0.3, wherein the weight ratio of (meth)acrylating compounds (c) to the depolymerization product A is between 0.1 and 0.8, and wherein the (meth)acrylated compound (I) that is obtained has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of between 500 and 5,000 Dalton. Typically PET is used as starting material. Typically compounds (I) of the invention have a PET content of at least 15 wt %, preferably at least 25 wt %. The present invention also relates to (meth)acrylated compounds (I) thus obtained and to coating compositions and inks based upon these materials. Materials of the invention allow the use of a high amount of PET waste. Inks and coatings prepared from these materials exhibit an excellent pigment wetting and/or ink-water balance.

(Meth)acrylated compounds based on recycled PET

The invention pertains to the technical field of urethane based materials, in particular to radiation curable urethane precursors that are cross-linkable in solid form and materials obtainable therefrom. In addition the invention pertains to methods for manufacturing these precursors and materials, and their uses. The invention is advantageous to the fields of i.e. coatings and biomedical applications.

Urethane based materials, derivatives, methods of their preparation and uses

The present invention relates to stabilizers for thiol-ene compositions and to radiation curable thiol-ene compositions based thereon. Such radiation curable compositions can advantageously be used in inks, overprint varnishes, coatings, adhesives, for the making of 3D objects and for the making of solder resist and gel nails. Provided in particular is an inhibitor system (I) for thiol-ene compositions based on &#x2014;at least one inhibitor compound (i) having a % DPPH radical scavenging activity of at least 90%, the inhibitor compound (i) being selected from substituted benzene compounds or substituted naphthalene compounds containing at least two substituents selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups and C1-C3 alkoxy groups bonded directly to the benzene or the naphthalene ring, &#x2014;at least one acidic compound (ii) having a pKa between 1 and 3, and &#x2014;at least one compound (iii) selected from the group consisting of phosphites and phosphonites, with the proviso that if the inhibitor compound (i) is a substituted benzene that it contains at least two hydroxyl groups bonded directly to the benzene ring. Also provided is an inhibitor system (II) for thiol-ene compositions based on that is based on &#x2014;at least one inhibitor compound (i) having a % DPPH radical scavenging activity of at least 90%, the inhibitor compound (i) being selected from substituted benzene compounds or substituted naphthalene compounds containing at least two substituents selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups and C1-C3 alkoxy groups bonded directly to the benzene or the naphthalene ring, &#x2014;at least one compound (iv) selected from the group consisting of spirophosphites, and &#x2014;optionally, at least one acidic compound (ii) having a pKa between 1 and 3, and with the proviso that if the inhibitor compound (i) is a substituted benzene that it contains at least two hydroxyl groups bonded directly to the benzene ring.

Stabilizer for thiol-ene compositions

Typically PET is used as starting material. Typically compounds (I) of the invention have a PET content of at least 15 wt %, preferably at least 25 wt %. The present invention also relates to (meth)acrylated compounds (I) thus obtained and to coating compositions and inks based upon these materials.
