Device for metering a quantity of ink in an offset printing machine having a plate cylinder and ink applicator cylinder engaging the plate cylinder and having a diameter corresponding to that of the plate cylinder, including an ink cylinder having a cylindrical outer surface formed of rigid material, at least one metering member cooperatively engageable with the ink cylinder under a given pressure, the metering member having a metering surface extending axially parallel with and tangentially to the cylindrical outer surface of the ink cylinder, and stationary bearing means for supporting the metering member through the intermediary of an adjusting element responsive to pressure from a pressure-medium for varying an ink gap between the metering surface and the ink cylinder outer surface, and means for supplying pressure medium to the adjusting element including a device for varying the pressure of the pressure medium as a function of time in accordance with a respective ink consumption within a printing period.

Device for metering ink in offset printing machines

A display system for a rotary printing press for displaying the inking profile on an LED matrix. The profile indication is provided by means of a time shared display with control circuit which scans the positions of all the ink control members, all having position sensors, and sequentially accesses an analog-to-digital converter with decoded outputs which are converted to a number of LED columns, each represented by a continuously lighted LED the coarse position of the ink control member. A fine position indication may be provided by simultaneously showing a fine indication by means of a flash LED in the corresponding column. A still finer indication may be provided by means of a second flashing LED in the corresponding column.

Monitoring device for densitometrically evaluating printed sheets with a printed print-monitoring strip includes holding means, a plurality of first densitometers for exclusively measuring full-tone density carried by the holding means at a selective spacing from one another so as to define respective gaps between the first densitometers, and a plurality of second densitometers for measuring at least one tone density value selected from a range of screen and full tone values, the second densitometers being receivable, respectively, in the gaps between the first densitometers and being connectible to a device for mathematically correlating the values measured by the second densitometers with quality-assessing parameters.

Drive for cylinders of an offset printing machine having a gear train constructed of spur gears disposed as drive gears on respective shafts of the cylinders, and including clamping devices for synchronizing rotation of the cylinders, the clamping devices being rotatable with the spur gears respectively associated therewith and having respective gear rims deformable more or less in accordance with an adjustment thereof, including a clamping plate respectively disposed coaxially to the spur gears, the spur gears being helically toothed, and at least two of the clamping devices mounted on the clamping plates, respectively, and acting in radial direction upon the gear rim of the spur gear respectively associated therewith.

Drive system for a sheet-fed rotary printing press with tandem-mounted printing units that are driven by a common motor through a main drive shaft and a closed gear train, at least two power input locations being provided in the gear train so as to form a closed power circuit, including at least one secondary power circuit formed in the first-mentioned power circuit, the secondary power circuit having a slip clutch connected therein, direction of power flow in said secondary power circuit being predetermined by the slip clutch.
