The disclosed manufacture method for a length of tubing can produce a length of fatigue resistant tubing that has relatively high fatigue resistance and relatively low strip-to-strip welding length. The Fatigue resistance is calculated from experimental settings with controlled parameters and/or simulations reproducing similar material properties and loading conditions. A high fatigue resistance means certain product characteristics (e.g., low plasticization, low hydrostatic stress levels and free of imperfections welds) can be retained with an adequate bias weld design at low values after a specific test number of cyclic loading. The relatively low strip-to-strip welding length is an advantage for reducing probabilities of having cracks initiated and/or propagated at weld locations, where imperfections and localized differences of mechanical properties commonly cause failure. Low strip-to-strip welding length can also reduce the costs for welding.

Fatigue resistant coiled tubing

A centralizer for tubular elements is provided which includes an inner part formed by a first material having high mechanical performance and chemical stability and an outer part arranged on said inner part, formed by a second material. The second material may be an autolubricating material. The second material may further possess a low coefficient of friction. The second material may additionally possess lower mechanical performance and chemical stability than the first material. A method of manufacturing the centralizer is also provided, including steps of injecting the first material on a tubular element to form the inner part on the tubular element and injecting the second material to form the outer part on the formed inner part.

A protector device for the ends of the tubular goods, such as tubes for the oil industry, OCTG, line pipes and the like is provided. The protector device may include two pieces, a generally elongate protector body and a bumper reinforcement that may be reversibly connected to the protector body. The protector body may be configured in a cylindrical geometry having a first end and a second end interconnected by lateral walls and defining a socket. The second end of the body further comprises a shoulder and an opening defining a socket in which a tubular good may be inserted. The bumper reinforcement includes an external curved or conical surface, capable of deforming in reaction to an external force in order to protect an enclosed tubular good.

An elongated drive string assembly comprising a plurality of hollow sucker rods and connecting elements with an axis, connected together and between a drive head located at the surface of an oil well and a rotary pump located deep down hole in an oil well. Each hollow sucker rod has at least a first end comprising an internal female threaded surface engaging an external male threaded surface on a connecting element, such as a nipple. In order to further optimize the stress distribution between the elements, frustro-conical, non-symmetrical threads with a differential diametral taper are used. Preferably two torque shoulders with a maximized mean diameter and cross-sectional area are used to resist storing reactive torque in the drive string. The nipple free end defines a second torque shoulder that adds to the torque transmission during make-up while also defining a small seal at that free end to decrease corrosion erosion problems. This overall configuration ensures high yield torque, high shear strength, lowered stress concentration and a surprising resistance to storing reactive torque, which minimizes dangerous backspin when power to the sucker rod string is interrupted.

An assembly for storing elongated members, the assembly comprising an elongated support element and a pair of segments. The segments are disposed on opposite sides of the elongated support element from each other, and each of the segments defines a cradle for supporting an elongated member. The pair of segments is joined together at a seam formed by locally heating and melting contacting edges of the segments to fuse them together. Moreover, the pair of segments is fixed to the elongated support element against movement in a longitudinal direction of the elongated support element. The elongated support element has a textured region of raised protrusions, indentations, or holes, over at least a portion of the surface thereof. Each cradle comprises a center portion located longitudinally between a pair of inclined portions. When an elongated member is supported in the cradle, the center portion of the cradle is convex about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the elongated support element, such that water will drain laterally off of the cradle.

Apparatus and method for storing or shipping elongated members

An elongated drive string assembly includes a plurality of hollow sucker rods and connecting elements between a drive head located at the surface of an oil well and a rotary pump located deep down in an oil well, with a series of holes at each end to substantially increase the flow of extracted fluid. Each hollow sucker rod has a first end with a torque shoulder, which engages a torque shoulder formed on a connecting element. The threads are frusto-conical, non-symmetrical threads with a differential diametral taper. The torque shoulders have a maximized mean diameter and cross-sectional area to resist storing reactive torque in the drive string.

A metalworking apparatus includes a threading insert with a channel-less chip breaker and a holder for holding the threading insert. The threading insert includes (i) one cooling channel disposed on the top side of the threading insert for each crest and each valley, which terminates near the cutting region, and (ii) a ceramic coating on at least the cutting region of crests and valleys, with each cooling channel being uncoated.
