A resealable access site (10) is provided for allowing a cannula (18) multiple accesses to an internal cavity (35) defined by a container (12). The access site (10) includes a first conduit (28) defining a passageway (29) forming a fluid path to the cavity within the container. Sealingly attached to the conduit (28) is a housing (26) with a lower portion (26a) and a lower flange (68) attached to a lower end of the lower portion and extending radially inward from the lower portion. A septum (24) is disposed and compressed within the lower portion, with the septum defining an opening (46) extending upward through at least a portion of the septum. The opening (46) is sized for insertion of the cannula (18) through the septum (24) with the septum sealing about the exterior of the cannula. The septum (24) is maintained in the housing by the support provided by the opposing flange (68) and conduit (28).

Resealable access site

An improved adaptor and protector for same which is removably sealing an opening of the adaptor located at an end of a tubular member. The adaptor has a longitudinal passageway for receiving a cannula. An upper end of the adaptor has an interior diameter defining a first end of the passageway for receiving the cannula. A lower end of the adaptor has an interior diameter defining a second end of the passageway adapted for receiving an injection site wherein the diameter of the first end is larger than the diameter at the second end. A middle portion intermediate the first end and the second end has a tapering interior diameter for directing the cannula to the injection site and further having an exterior surface with gripping surfaces. The tapering interior diameter of the middle portion of the adaptor includes guiding members to direct the cannula or other injection devices. The adaptor may also be provided with a protector removably sealing an opening located at an end of the adaptor. The cap portion includes means extending therefrom for allowing removal of the cap portion from the adaptor. Additionally, the present invention provides an improved container assembly.

Port adaptor and protector and container having same

A port and closure assembly is provided. The port and closure assembly comprises a port including a tubular portion that extends from a base, the tubular portion terminating at an end including an opening. A closure is provided for sealing at least a portion of the end of the port, the port and closure being constructed from materials that create a tack seal when the closure is positioned on the port and the port and closure are sterilized, the tack seal functioning to secure the closure to the port.

Closure and port assembly

A port assembly for a container is provided. The port assembly includes an elongated tube extending from an end of a base, the tube defining a tubular bore for receiving a member for accessing the container. The tubular bore includes a membrane for separating the tubular bore into a first portion and second portion, the first portion being closer to the container than the second portion. A resealing injection site is mechanically locked within the second portion of the channel. A method for making the port assembly is also provided.

Port assembly for a container

Various embodiments of an improved reconstitution device 30, 168, 170, 186, 242, 256, 274 are disclosed, directed to the proper mixing of two substances, and are particularly directed to the medical field for the reconstitution of a drug 36 which may be stored in a drug vial 32 with a diluent 60 stored in a flexible medical solution container 34 and used for the intravenous delivery of a medicament. In one embodiment the reconstitution device 30 includes an improved vial adapter 76 and bag adapter 78 which permit the permanent coupling of the vial 32 and liquid container 34. The bag adapter 78 may be rotatable relative to the vial adapter 76 to operate a valve including a stem channel 108 and a base post 148 on the vial adapter 76, a base segment channel 136 and a cut out portion 146 of a rim 140 on the bag adapter 78, and a sealing segment 80 disposed between the vial and bag adapter 76, 78. The reconstitution device 30 reduces drug waste in hospitals, eliminates the need to relabel parenteral solution containers after a drug has been added, and prevents repeated exposure of hospital personnel to various drugs.

Protective closure for a medical container

A rope tightener for a rope under tension such as a tent rope formed from a single piece of plastic forming two pairs of parallel legs, the respective legs of each pair having opposed hooks formed at the end of the leg to cooperate in forming a hole through the pair of legs for a rope, the respective leg ends each being bevelled toward the face where the legs of a pair come nearly together to facilitate the introduction of a rope between the legs.

A container support useful for supporting flexible fluid containers in a suspended, upright position is described having a hinged arm with detented hinging means.

A urine meter and collection assembly is described having a rigid, compartmentalized measuring container attached to a flexible wall of the collection bag. The fluid inlet and transfer ports are telescopically aligned to accept the fluid drainage tube and the flexible bag wall is utilized as a hinge during emptying of the measuring container. The telescopic arrangement provides for a compact assembly and minimizes disturbances of the patient drainage line.

Urine meter and collection assembly

A valve assembly is described for closure of resilient tubes and protection of the ends of such tubing from contamination when the valve is in its closed position. The valve assembly is fabricated from two trough-like members which are connected by a linkage having bi-stable characteristics to facilitate one-handed operation. The assembly is particularly useful when employed at the end of drainage bag outlet tubes in hospital applications, where the likelihood of contamination of the tube end must be minimized.
