A method for separating a biological suspension includes dispensing a liquid suspension comprised of cells or microorganisms from a bioreactor or fermenter into a sterile compartment of a first bag assembly, the first bag assembly including a collapsible bag having of one or more sheets of flexible film. The compartment of the first bag assembly is sealed closed. The first bag assembly, either with or without a manifold fluid coupled therewith, is then rotated, such as by using a centrifuge, so that the liquid suspension separates within the compartment into a pellet comprised of the cells or microorganisms and a liquid supernatant.

A microplate assembly comprising a multi-well microplate and a plurality of reagent wells proximal the multi-wells. The microplate includes a frame that houses a plurality of open wells in a rectangular array. Reagent wells mounted within the microplate to react with the contents of the open wells during a g-force acting upon the microplate. The open wells function as a vessel for liquid samples that occupy predetermined spaces within the interior volumes. Each liquid sample remains within its predetermined space for all orientations of the microplate assembly.

A tube for use in a pelleting centrifuge rotor is characterized in first aspect by a first, acute, corner and a second, obtuse, corner defined in the lowermost pelleting region thereof. The corner defined by the acute angle lies a greater axial distance from the mouth of the tube than the corner defined by the obtuse angle. In a second aspect the tube the interior of the tube has a constricted region with a guide adjacent thereto. The guide channel is sized to accept a supernatant removal implement.
