A service deployment device responds to events originating internally or in a network using a set of condition/action rules. The condition/action rules are defined in terms of business-level information. A rules engine in the service deployment device translates the network events to business information and uses a forward-chaining algorithm to evaluate conditions associated with the rules. Based on the evaluation, the service deployment device enables actions associated with the rules. An enterprise using the service deployment device uses the condition/action rules to deploy business policies in the network.

Network service management using customizable business-level rules

A server includes first logic to receive a message identifying a subscriber device and including information relating to content requested by the subscriber device; and second logic to determine whether adequate network resources exist for providing the requested content to the subscriber device, and to reserve the network resources when adequate network resources are determined to exist.

Systems and methods for providing quality assurance

A service provider system connects to systems associated with a group of business-partners. Each of the business-partners sells services, of an extensible set of services provided by the service provider system, to its customers. The service provider system provides a common interface via which the business-partner systems can request one or more services from the extensible set of services. The service provider system exposes subsets of the common interface to each of the business-partner systems by controlling access to the extensible set of services by the business-partner systems.

Systems and methods for exposing functionality with strict access controls

A network includes a media server and a service activation device. The media server may receive a request for content from a subscriber device and transmit a message. The message may identify the subscriber device and include information relating to the content. The service activation device may receive the message from the media server, identify, in response to receiving the message, bandwidth and quality of service requirements for the content, determine whether resources needed to provide the identified bandwidth and quality of service requirements exist, reserve the resources when the resources needed to provide the identified bandwidth and quality of service requirements exist, and transmit a second message to the media server in response to reserving the resources. The second message may cause the media server to provide the content to the subscriber device.
