A power tool includes a housing, a motor positioned within the housing, an impulse assembly coupled to the motor to receive torque therefrom, the impulse assembly including a cylinder at least partially forming a chamber containing a hydraulic fluid, an anvil positioned at least partially within the chamber, and a hammer positioned at least partially within the chamber and engageable with the anvil for transferring rotational impacts to the anvil, the hammer including a through hole, and a valve configured to control flow of the hydraulic fluid through the through hole.

A string trimmer includes a handle unit including a handle unit housing that defines a grip portion and a battery receptacle. The string trimmer also includes a head unit including a head unit housing, an electric motor, and a rotatable trimmer head. The string trimmer further includes a shaft assembly coupling the handle unit to the head unit. The string trimmer also includes a circuit board assembly supported within the head unit housing. The circuit board assembly includes a heat sink and a circuit board that comprises a controller configured to control the electric motor.

A power tool includes a housing, a drive mechanism supported within the housing, a spindle operatively coupled to an output of the drive mechanism such that torque from the drive mechanism rotates the spindle about an axis, and a clutch assembly configured to selectively limit torque transfer from the drive mechanism to the spindle. The clutch assembly includes a plurality of rolling elements, a biasing member configured to bias the plurality of rolling elements into engagement with the output of the drive mechanism, and a sleeve movable along the axis to adjust a torque limit of the clutch assembly by varying a preload of the biasing member. The sleeve is made of a high-temperature, engineering thermoplastic.

Clutch assembly for a power tool

A rotary power tool includes a housing and a drive mechanism disposed within the housing. The drive mechanism includes an electric motor, a transmission operably coupled to the electric motor, a spindle operably coupled to an output of the transmission, the spindle configured to transmit torque generated by the electric motor to a working tool bit, and a clutch disposed between the output of the transmission and the spindle. The clutch includes a plurality of spherical rolling elements configured to engage the output of the transmission, a plurality of cylindrical clutch elements, and at least one biasing member configured to bias the cylindrical clutch elements towards the spherical rolling elements. Each of the cylindrical clutch elements includes a length measured parallel to a rotational axis of the spindle and a diameter, and the diameter is greater than the length.

A side handle assembly comprises a handle configured to be gripped by a user, a rod coaxially coupled the handle and rotationally fixed to the handle, and a clamp coupled to the rod. The clamp includes a flexible band enclosing an area and having a first end and a second end, a first connection block coupled to the first end of the flexible band, and a second connection block coupled to the second end of the flexible band. The rod includes an annular shoulder abutted with the first connection block and a threaded portion received within a threaded bore of the second connection block. In response to the handle being rotated in a first direction, the second connection block is moved closer to the first connection block along the threaded portion of the rod, decreasing the area enclosed by the flexible band.

A power tool includes a housing, a motor positioned within the housing, and an impulse assembly coupled to the motor to receive torque therefrom. The impulse assembly including a cylinder at least partially forming a chamber containing a hydraulic fluid, an anvil positioned at least partially within the chamber, and a hammer positioned at least partially within the chamber and engageable with the anvil for transferring rotational impacts to the anvil. The hammer includes a surface facing the anvil, a first through hole formed in the surface and a second through hole formed in the surface. The impulse assembly further includes a biasing member biasing the hammer towards the anvil. The flow of the hydraulic fluid through the first through hole varies as the hammer translates away from the anvil.

A side handle assembly comprises a handle configured to be gripped by a user, a rod coaxially coupled at a first end to the handle, the rod rotationally fixed to the handle, and a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly includes a first tool interface with a through bore, the first tool interface configured to accept a clamping shaft within the through bore, a second tool interface with a threaded bore, the second tool interface configured to accept a threaded portion of the clamping shaft within the threaded bore, and an orientation adjustment mechanism coupling a second end of the rod to the mounting assembly and configured to adjust an orientation of the rod and handle with respect to at least one of the first tool interface or the second tool interface of the mounting assembly.
