A device for splicing the trailing (downstream) end of a first web of material (the expiring web) originating from a first roll to a leading (upstream) end of a second web of material (the new web) originating from a second roll, during stoppage, comprises a frame which accommodates at least a festoon, a web splicing unit and two roll holders. Each roll holder comprises two arms which are fitted so as to be slideable in the axial direction and non-rotatable on a pivot shaft mounted horizontally in the frame and coupled to a rotating mechanism. Each roll holder further comprises two chucks rotatably mounted in the ends of the arms and situated opposite each other coaxially for receiving a roll between them. A vertically arranged drive belt unit is situated between the arms of each roll holder for rotationally driving a roll received between the two chucks. With the roll holder a roll can be easily picked up and pressed against a drive belt.

A semi-automatic operating and also adjustable device for interconnecting the opposite ends of two material bands originating from two individual webs, one web of which is nearly terminated the other being the starting one, the connection being made with an adhesive tape attached to only one and the same side of both bands, said device comprising two pinch rollers, cutting knives and idler rollers, the band material being either paper or textile, to be used for a printing operation.

For the introduction of a strip of material between the rollers of a loop take-up apparatus having a fixed frame that includes one or more rows of rollers and a movable jockey frame that includes one or more rows of rollers, the rows of rollers are brought into a pull-through position and the strip of material is attached to a strip pull-through device and passed through between the rows of rollers situated in the pull-through position by means of the strip pull-through device. The pull-through device comprises a chain system which preferably consists of two finite chains which in the pull-through position can be guided in grooves at both sides of the rollers. The grooves are formed by guide grooves provided in the fixed frame and the jockey frame, which guide grooves are in line with each other and together form a continuous groove when the jockey frame is in the pull-through position.
