A method and device for the controlled tempering of a casting trough integrated between a supply vessel for a molten metal (e.g., copper or a copper alloy), and at least one continuous casting mold. The trough walls and the trough floor of the casting trough are at least partially provided with a lining layer having a specific electrical resistance between 10 &OHgr;&middot;m to 10 &OHgr;&middot;m and being resistant to the heat of the molten metal. The lining layer is inductively heated by an electrical heating device arranged around the lining layer.

Method for the controlled tempering of a casting trough and a casting trough for carrying out the method

An arrangement for pouring a pourable melt made up of a copper alloy, which comprises a melting furnace, pivotable about a horizontal pivot axis, having a pouring tube which discharges pourable melt and through which the pourable melt can be conveyed under a shielding gas atmosphere to a filling end of a launder and can be conveyed through an outlet of the launder to a mold. The filling end of the launder is coverable by a hood that seals off the pourable melt from the atmosphere, the pouring tube engaging, with interposition of a seal arrangement, in pivotably movable fashion into the hood. As a result, the pourable melt can be transferred into the launder under a shielding gas atmosphere upon pivoting of the melting furnace and the pouring tub.

In order to localize element concentrations in the edge areas of a horizontally manufactured continuous casting of alloyed non-ferrous metals, a longitudinal section is removed from the continuous casting. At least one strip of surface layer is then removed transversely by a metal removal unit from the longitudinal section forming a test specimen having a defined thickness. A point-by-point spectroanalysis of the metal composition is then carried out in linear sequence with the aid of a spectral-analysis head in the longitudinal direction of the strip. The element concentration determined in this manner is displayed numerically and/or graphically with the aid of a computer. The metal-removal unit and the spectral-analysis head are placed under the influence of a metal-removal and analysis control unit which is coupled to the computer via a programmable controller and via a spectrometer, respectively.

Method and apparatus for the localization of element concentrations in a continuous casting

A continuous horizontal strip casting installation for producing a metal strip that can be coiled into a coil has a stationary draw-off unit with multiple draw-off rolls at a distance from a chill mold assigned to a furnace, a strip cutting unit which is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the metal strip drawn out of the chill mold by the draw-off unit, and a coiling unit with coiling rolls, which can also be displaced in the same longitudinal direction. At least one draw-off roll and one coiling roll are driven in synchronization, and their drives are linked together by a programmable controller. The strip cutting unit is arranged between the draw-off unit and the coiling unit and is also linked to the programmable controller and is moved by the metal strip only when the strip is to be cut.
