The channel structure is formed of ceramic bodies, a metallic cover element, and a metallic carrier element. An electrical structural element is in contact with the heat transport medium.

A switching device is for coupling a DC voltage branch to a DC voltage bus. The switching device includes a series circuit including a first switching module and a second switching module. A first diode is connected in parallel with the first semiconductor switching element and a second diode is connected in parallel with the second semiconductor switching element. A third semiconductor switching element is connected in parallel with the series circuit. A control device is connected to the first and second semiconductor switching elements, to the bridging semiconductor switching element, to the voltage sensor and to the current sensor. The control device is configured to, upon a first threshold value of the voltage being undershot and current flowing in an exceptional case, switch the bridging semiconductor switching element to the conducting state in order to facilitate a current flow from the DC voltage branch to the DC voltage bus.

A method is for locating a ground fault in a DC system to which a plurality of load zones can be connected. The method includes specifying a time window and, after the ground fault is detected, assigning the ground fault to a load zone which was connected to the DC system within the time window before the detection of the ground fault.

A circuit breaker device is for coupling a DC voltage branch to a positive and a negative conductor on a DC voltage bus. In an embodiment, the circuit breaker device includes a series circuit including a safety fuse and a unidirectional switch module. The switch module has a parallel circuit includes a controllable semiconductor switch element that is conductive in a first current direction and a diode that is conductive in the opposite current direction.

A rectifier has at least three outputs at which the rectifier provides a high potential, a low potential and at least one medium potential. Phase voltages of a supply grid can be supplied to the rectifier via feed lines. Inductors are arranged in the feed lines. A clamping circuit has two diode circuits that are connected in series. One of the end points of the series circuit is connected to an output at which the rectifier provides one of the medium potentials. The other end point is connected to another output. The node is connected to a reference potential via an overall capacitor circuit.

A method is for precharging a second network section with electrical energy from a first network section of a DC network. In an initial state, an initial voltage prevailing in the second network section is lower than a DC voltage prevailing in the first network section. At a first point in time, the two network sections are connected via a resistor current path having a precharging resistor. At a subsequent second point in time, as soon as the voltage in the second network section is between the initial voltage and the DC voltage, the two network sections are connected via a semiconductor switch which is situated parallel to the resistor current path and is operated in a clocked mode or in a linear mode as a controllable resistor.

A method is for detecting a ground fault in a load zone that can be connected to a direct-current network. The load zone includes a first load zone line connectable to a first main line of the direct-current network via a circuit breaker, and a second load zone line connectable to a second main line of the direct-current network via an interrupter switch. In an embodiment of the method, at least one line voltage at a load zone line is continually measured. If a ground fault is not detected at any main line of the direct-current network before the load zone is connected, the interrupter switch is closed while the circuit breaker is open, and a ground fault in the load zone is inferred if at least one line voltage does not significantly change after the interrupter switch is closed.

Detection of a ground fault in a direct-current network

A method is for testing the functionality of a switching member including at least one switching element. A switching state is influenced via a control input of the switching element and via a control signal generated and output to the control input. An activation signal is output to the control unit and changes the control signal. The activation signal induces a test signal as the change to the control signal and induces a disconnection pulse as the test signal. The SiC or GaN power semiconductor is switched off via the disconnection pulse and conducts current in the reverse direction. In response to the disconnection pulse, the voltage drop is recorded. A comparison is carried out between an indicator and a reference encoding an expected response to the disconnection pulse. Depending on the result of the comparison, a status signal is generated which encodes the functionality of the switching member.

Method and device for automatically testing a switching member

Electrical devices are connected to a DC voltage power supply grid being connected to a power source and having a supply voltage. Protection devices protect the electrical devices against an unintentional overcurrent sensed by a sensor unit. The protection devices disconnect the electrical devices from the DC voltage power supply grid when an overcurrent is detected. A pulse circuit having a capacitor with a semiconductor switching element connected in series with the capacitor is connected to respective inputs of the protection devices and supplies an amount of electric charge when a voltage dip occurs, wherein the amount of supplied electric charge is determined based on the detected overcurrent and a predetermined time period.

Pulse circuit for providing a fault current in a DC voltage power supply grid

A method is disclosed for locating an earth fault in a DC network, to which multiple load zones are connectable. Each load zone has two symmetrically earthed load zone lines. In an embodiment of the method, for each load zone line, a line voltage is continuously measured between a line potential, at which the load zone line lies, and an earth potential. In the event that an earth fault is detected at a main line of the DC network, the main lines are separated from both load zone lines of a load zone and the earth fault is assigned to this load zone, if a magnitude difference between the magnitudes of the line voltages of the two load zone lines of this load zone are not significantly reduced after separating the main lines from the load zone lines.

Locating a ground fault in a DC network

An electronic switch has a first semiconductor switch arranged between a first source-side terminal and a first consumer-side terminal first, and a switch embodied as a thyristor and arranged between the first consumer-side terminal and a second source-side terminal. The switch is configured to generate a thermal overload from a short-circuit current produced when the switch closes. The thermal overload causes the first semiconductor switch to irreversibly transition into an open state due to a modification inside the first semiconductor switch caused by the thermal overload. This improves the switching behavior of the electronic switch in the event of a fault. Furthermore, an electrical network with at least one electronic switch connected to an energy source and a method for operating such an electronic switch or such an electrical network is also described.

Electronic switch

A frequency converter with a rectifier on an input side and a backup capacitor arranged downstream of the rectifier. Input-side phases of the rectifier feed the backup capacitor via multiple half-bridges of the rectifier. The input-side phases are connected to grid-side phases of a multiphase supply grid via a pre-circuit. Each grid-side phase is connected to an input-side phase within the pre-circuit via a phase capacitor. Each grid-side phase is additionally directly connected to another input-side phase within the pre-circuit via a switch and the grid-side phases are short-circuited with the input-side phases when the switches are closed. Each phase capacitor connects two grid-side phases or two input-side phases together. The frequency converter has a control apparatus which keeps the switches open when pre-charging the backup capacitor and closes the switches when a specified charge state of the backup capacitor is reached.

An electronic switch for a DC voltage system includes at least two turn-off semiconductor switches, a varistor and a capacitor, and at least two diodes connected in series with opposite polarity. The turn-off semiconductor switches are connected at a connection point in series with opposite polarity between a first connection of the electronic switch and a second connection of the electronic switch. In order to provide improved overvoltage protection, the varistor and the capacitor form a series connection, with one end of the series connection connected to the connection point. A DC voltage system employing the electronic switch and a method for limiting overvoltages in the electronic switch or in a corresponding DC voltage system are also disclosed. Inductive energy of an element connected to the electronic switch is transferred to the capacitor when a limit, defined by the varistor, has been exceeded.

A direct-current network has an infeed unit, a plurality of network sections which are each separably inter connected by respective switching elements, and a controllable current-limiting unit, which limits charge-transfer currents that flow between the network sections because of different voltages of the network sections following disconnection of the network sections from the infeed unit and before reconnection of the network sections to the infeed unit.

Method for operating a direct-current grid and direct-current grid

A power distributing apparatus connecting several loads to a DC voltage supply includes a number of cascaded hierarchy stages connected between the DC voltage supply and the loads. The hierarchy stages define a radial-network-type current path which branches into a number of parallel sub-paths with each additional hierarchy stage. The number of sub-paths connecting the loads corresponds to the number of connected loads. Each sub-path conducts an electric current which can be switched by a respective circuit breaker disposed in each sub-path. The value of a trigger current for each circuit breaker in each hierarchy stage increases successively from the load side toward the DC voltage supply side.
