A screw press () for removing liquid from a pulp suspension has a shell () which is provided with openings through which the liquid can pass. The shell () contains a rotating screw with a screw flight () to which wearing parts are attached. Wearing part () and support () are connected to one another in a substance-to-substance bond by a soldered joint and in a positive bond by a projection () located at one of the two parts and which meshes into a recess () in the other part.

Screw press, preferably for removing liquid from a material to be conveyed, comprising a screw shaft () complete with a helical conveying flight () mounted on the screw shaft () and a housing shell () surrounding it, where a transport channel () is formed for the material to be conveyed between the screw shaft (), the conveying flight (), and the housing shell (). The invention relates to a process for the separation, in particular filtration of liquids and solids from solid-liquid mixtures, such as from a mineral, ore, coal or sludge suspensions of contaminated earth. The processing space of the filtration apparatus is submitted to overpressure and includes a collector container for solid-liquid mixture, a pressure filter, a discharge system and container for condensate and solid matter. The separation or filtration takes place at an overpressure and at an elevated temperature, preferably 40.degree. C. to 300.degree. C., conveniently 60.degree. C. to 200.degree. C., preferably about 150.degree. C. The pressure filter device communicates with a source for a heated medium.
