A water heater including a cold water intake, a hot water output, a fluid pathway arranged between the cold water intake and the hot water output and adapted to convey water flowing from the cold water intake to the hot water output. A heating element is adapted to heat water that is in the fluid pathway. A power electronics unit is coupled to the heating element. A controller is configured to regulate a temperature of the water in the fluid pathway to an adjustable hot water temperature by controlling the power electronics unit. A water draw-off detector is adapted to detect a water draw-off event and a water sensor is adapted to determine a reference parameter corresponding to a temperature of the water.

Water heater and method of controlling same

A water heater including an inflow terminal for connecting a tankless water heater to a cold water supply and an outflow terminal for connecting the tankless water heater to a tap. A fluid channel proves a fluid connection from the inflow terminal to the outflow terminal. A heat element arrangement is arranged at or within at least a section of the fluid channel for transferring heat to fluid present within the fluid channel. An electronic controller is configured to control a heating power provided to the heat element arrangement. A flow sensor is arranged at or within the fluid channel downstream the heat element arrangement. The electronic controller is further configured to detect the presence of air bubbles within the fluid channel based on a change of a flow signal provided by the flow sensor and to adapt the heating power provided to the heat element arrangement in reaction to the determination of air bubbles.

Tankless water heater system

A tankless water heater comprising a bare wire heating element is disclosed which is connected to an electronic temperature control system. At least one sensor is furthermore connected to the electronic temperature control system. A fluid heating chamber is made of insulating non conductive material wherein the heating element is located. At least one switch is connected to at least one bare wire heating element and to a phase of an AC line. An electrode system and an electronic detecting circuit are interconnected. The electrode system is arranged in a fluid channel, in a short distance from the bare wire heating element which acts like electrode 1. The electrode 2 of the electrode system is made from a conductive tube material hydraulically connected to a throttle valve made from non conductive material to insulate the electrode 2 from the grounded collector. The electrode 2 is electrically connected to a electronic control system via a conductive material.

Tankless water heater and method of controlling a tankless water heater

A tank water heater assembly is provided including a tank water heater and a drain pan provided with a sensor holder for mounting a sensor. The sensor holder accommodates a leak detection sensor at predefined distance above an inner surface of a bottom wall of the drain pan. In this way the presence of harmless small amounts of water in the drain pan do not trigger an alarm. A transport assembly is presented for facilitating transportation of the tank water heater assembly to an installation site and subsequent installation. Finally, a method for installation of a tank water heater assembly is provided.

The method includes heating water in the reservoir with a first power value of the heating element during a first period of time until a value indicative of a threshold temperature of water is determined; upon reaching the threshold temperature, heating the reservoir water with a second power value of the heating element, which is lower than the first power value, during a second period of time until a water-temperature-rise-per-time value is lower than a first predetermined value; subsequently, increasing the power value of the heating element to a third power value during a third period of time; determining the boiling-point temperature of water by determining the highest temperature of water between the first and third periods of time.

A water heater comprising a heat pump device and a water tank is provided. A temperature controller operates the heat pump device based on a comparison of a measured water temperature and a set temperature. The water heater further comprises a source temperature sensor measuring the temperature of a heat source serving to provide heat energy to the heat pump device process. The source temperature sensor measures a source temperature and provides a source temperature value to the temperature controller. The temperature controller adapts an activation temperature in response to the measured source temperature. The water heater provides an improved accuracy of the temperature controller without unnecessarily reducing the life expectancy of the heat pump device. Furthermore, a corresponding method for controlling a heat pump device in a water heater is suggested.

A water heater is provided which comprises a water storage tank made of enameled metal, an anode electrode (e.g. an anode rod) at least partly inside the water storage tank and a corrosion protection unit configured to impress current into the anode to provide a corrosion protection for the water storage tank. The corrosion protection unit further comprises a microprocessor configured to control the impressing of the current to the anode electrode during impression process cycles and to control the operation of the corrosion protection. The corrosion protection unit furthermore comprises a battery unit or an accumulator unit configured to supply energy to the microprocessor during grid power outages. The microprocessor is configured to activate the power saving mode during grid power outages during which an amount of impressed current and/or an impression process cycle is reduced.

A gas burner for a heating furnace with at least one burner pipe (1) with flame openings (7). An intake opening (5) is provided in which primary air enters and wherein burnable gas enters through a gas nozzle (4) penetrating into the intake opening (5). The percentage of primary air remains extensively unaffected during changes in the gas pressure occurring as a consequence of a change in the nature of the gas. The gas nozzle (4) has within the burner pipe (1) either only at least one gas opening (16), which is radial to the longitudinal axis (A) of the burner pipe (1), wherein the primary air can be fed to the burner pipe (1) via a blower (12), or--in the case of a design as an atmospheric gas burner--gas openings (16), which are radial to the longitudinal axis (A) of the burner pipe (1), as well as a displaceable nozzle part (21), which forms a gas opening (23) which is axial to the longitudinal axis (A) of the burner pipe (1) and opens the radial gas openings (16) during increasing gas pressure and closes them at low gas pressure.

Gas burner for a heating furnace

A process for controlling a gas blower burner in which an ionization electrode sends an electrical variable derived from the combustion temperature or the lambda value to a control circuit, which compares this variable with a selected electrical set point and adjusts the gas-to-air ratio (lambda value) to a corresponding lambda set point. To compensate the effect of a condition-dependent change in the proportionality between the lambda value and the electrical measured variable derived from it on the control in such a way that the desired lambda set point will be maintained, a calibration cycle is run from time to time. The lambda value is reduced from a value of &gt;1 during this cycle. The maximum obtained at lambda=1 is stored. The electrical set point is adjusted with this maximum.

Process and circuit for controlling a gas burner

In a process for operating a gas blower burner, a control circuit detects an ionization signal Ui derived from an ionization electrode, and it adjusts the gas-to-air ratio to a lambda set point &gt;1, to which a set point Uis of the ionization signal corresponds. To guarantee low-emission combustion in different operating states, a range of control of the ionization signal Ui is set, whose upper limit value Uio is smaller than the maximum of the ionization signal Ui, and whose lower limit value Uiu is above the value that guarantees low-emission operation. A switch-off signal is generated for the burner if the ionization signal Ui leaves the permissible range of control RB for longer than a preset period of time. If the value is lower than the lower limit value Uiu of the ionization signal Ui and when the value is lower than the set point Uis at a lambda value &lt;1, the control circuit increases the gas volume flow to an end value, and another switch-off signal is generated for the burner when this end value is reached.

Process and device for operating a gas burner

The quality of a fuel-air mixture shall be evaluated by a process and a device during a phase of combustion, especially in a spark ignition engine, in order to make possible a low-emission, fuel-saving and knock-free operation. An electrical testing pulse P is sent for this purpose to the spark plug during the phase of combustion V following the ignition pulse Z. The effect of the actual fuel-air mixture of the combustion chamber on the testing pulse is detected and evaluated as an electrical variable.
