A telecommunication terminal for accessing a data network via an access network using a set of provisioning data stores a current set of provisioning data and at least one set of protected provisioning data. The protected provisioning data cannot be updated without the intervention of the terminal user. This enables a mobile terminal to change access network without losing the provisioning data of the home access network. It avoids the need for further provisioning on returning to the home access network.

The invention provides a system for monitoring access to a service available via a telecommunications terminal connected to a telecommunications network, access to the service being subject to paying a subscription. The system includes: a unit configured to detect refusal of access to a service because there is no subscription to that service, a unit configured to prepare an electronic message following said access refusal, the message identifying the service to which access has been refused and the subscription enabling said terminal to use the telecommunications network to which the terminal is connected, and a unit configured to send the prepared message to a unit for monitoring attempts to access services to which there is no subscription.

To compress a MIDI format file it is converted to a format 0 file. The format 0 file is then scanned to reduce the number of possible instruments to 16. MIDI commands having no sound output are then eliminated and NoteOn and NoteOff commands are replaced by a PlayNote command. This eliminates instances of &Dgr;time equal to 0. Based on the characteristics of an appliance that has to play the compressed file, the notes are recentered in a bandwidth compatible with the appliance, after which the file is scanned to seek instances of polyphony. If an instance of polyphony exceeds the capacities of the appliance it is reduced in accordance with an instrument priority list and a note pitch.
