The present invention relates to a toothed belt () having a belt body () which extends substantially in a longitudinal direction (X) and which comprises a flexible material, wherein at least one tension member (), preferably a plurality of tension members (), is at least substantially embedded in the flexible material of the belt body () in the longitudinal direction (X) and is at least substantially enclosed by the flexible material of the belt body (), wherein the belt body () has a toothed side () with teeth () and tooth spaces () which alternate in the longitudinal direction (X). A process for the production of a traction or carrying means built up from a plurality of components or assemblies of extruded elastomeric material, wherein, in a first substep, a first component, provided with reinforcing members or cables, of the traction or carrying means is produced and, in further substeps, a traction or carrying means, which is connected to further components or provided with further layers of elastomeric material, fabric layers or reinforcing-member layers, is successively completed, and optionally said traction or carrying means is shaped on one or more sides, wherein the individual substeps follow one another such that a component processed or completed in the respectively preceding substep is fed at room temperature (Rt), after a maximum of 1 to 10 minutes, to the subsequent substep, and such that the temperature of the component does not drop below 30&#xb0; C. between a respectively preceding substep and the subsequent substep.

Process for the multi-stage production of a traction or carrying means

A toothed belt includes a toothed profile made of a base material and defining a toothed profile drive side and a far side facing away from the drive side. A woven ply has a thickness and is applied to the far side of the toothed profile. The woven ply has a first side in contact with the far side causing the base material to penetrate the woven ply at least partly at the first side thereof. The woven ply has a second side facing away from the first side. A coating of plastic on the second side causes the plastic to penetrate the woven ply at least partly at the second side. The base material and the plastic each penetrate the woven ply to an extent to cause the woven ply to be free of the base material and the plastic in an inner lying thickness region thereof.

Toothed belt having a woven fabric layer and method for making the same

A method for treating a tension member in the production of a belt. The belt includes at least a belt body made of a polymer material having elastic properties, a cover layer as a belt backing, and a substructure having a force-transmission zone. The tension member has a ribbed design and is embedded in the belt body. The tension member is treated with an overall treatment mixture which forms a cross-linked polymer that on the one hand enters into a mechanical connection with the tension member and on the other hand forms an adhesive connection with the belt body.

Method for preparing a tension member, in particular a carbon tension member, in the production of a belt

A method for fabricating a belt with upstream treatment of a tension member. The belt comprises a belt body made of a polymeric material having elastic properties, having a top ply as belt backing and a substructure having a force transmission zone, and a tension member embedded into the belt body. The tension member has been treated with crosslinked polymer; in an upstream stage of the belt fabrication method, voids in the tension member are filled at least partly with crosslinked polymer and the tension member is sealed with an envelope layer of crosslinked polymer, this being done, in a single treatment stage or in at least two treatment stages, by wetting of the tension member with an overall treatment mixture comprising at least one prepolymer, at least one crosslinker and at least one solvent or dispersion medium, and then drying of the treated tension member.

Method for fabricating a belt with treated tension members with envelope layer and belt thus produced

A belt comprises at least a belt body made of a polymer material having elastic properties, the belt including a cover layer as a belt backing, a substructure having a force-transmission zone, and a tension member in a ribbed design embedded in the belt body. The tension member is prepared with a cross-linked polyurethane in such a way that the polyurethane fills at least part of the tension member cavities. The polyurethane filling material enters into a mechanical connection to the tension member on the one hand and an adhesive connection to the belt body on the other hand. The polyurethane filling material has a Shore A hardness that is 0.5 to 10 times harder than the Shore A hardness of the belt body. The belt body is preferably likewise made of cross-linked polyurethane, in particular using a carbon tension member.

A method of making a load bearing member () for an elevator system () includes placing at least one tension member () adjacent one side () of a first layer () of a polymer material. A second layer (), comprising a urethane in a disclosed example, is added adjacent to at least the one side () of the first layer () such that the tension member () is between the first layer () and the second layer (). Such a technique allows for eliminating the bridges typically used to support the tension members in molding devices. Eliminating such bridges eliminates the resulting grooves associated with previous arrangements. Providing a grooveless exterior on the jacket () of the load bearing member () eliminates a significant source of potential vibration and noise in an elevator system.

Method of making a load bearing member for an elevator system

An elevator load bearing assembly () includes a plurality of cords () within a jacket (). The jacket has a plurality of grooves () spaced along the length of the belt assembly. Each groove has a plurality of portions () aligned at an oblique angle (A, B) relative to a longitudinal axis () of the belt (). In one example, the grooves are separated such that there is no longitudinal overlap between adjacent grooves. In another example, transitions () between the obliquely aligned portions are at different longitudinal positions on the belt. Another example includes a combination of the different longitudinal positions and the non-overlapping groove placement.
