Method for preparing a tissue-adhesive sheet

An applicator for applying cryogenic fluid to a treatment area is described, the applicator comprising: a reservoir () configured to contain a cryogenic fluid comprising a gas phase (G) and a liquid phase (L). A nozzle () extends from a proximal end arranged in fluid communication with the reservoir () to an open distal end () for application of fluid to a treatment area. An actuatable valve is provided to selectively allow a flow of cryogenic fluid from the reservoir () through the distal end of the nozzle (). A spacer () extends distally beyond the distal end () of the nozzle (), the spacer () comprising a skin contacting surface () at its distal end. A porous material () is provided between the distal end () of the nozzle (), at least between the open end of the nozzle and the skin contacting surface of the spacer.

Cryogenic applicator

The present invention relates to a dispensing system for spraying a liquid/gas mixture, the system including a dispenser and a holder in which the dispenser is held, the dispenser including a container that is adapted for holding therein a liquid phase and a gas phase that is at a pressure of 2 bar or greater and is in direct contact with the liquid phase. The dispensing system may be used in a first orientation and a second orientation, wherein the ratio of liquid to gas in the sprayed mixture is different depending on the orientation of the system during spraying.

Dispensing system

The invention relates to a dispensing system for use in cryogenic skin treatment that is capable of targeted delivery of a cryogen at a high rate, thereby achieving rapid freezing of targeted skin tissue. The dispensing system of the present invention uses a cryogen that contains dimethyl ether and is designed to deliver the cryogen in an accurate and very effective manner.

The present invention relates to a method for administering water soluble physiologically active substances, said method comprising intranasally administering to a subject an aqueous composition comprising 0.001-25 wt. % of one or more fully dissolved physiologically active substances, the physiologically active substances having a water solubility in demineralized water of at least 15 mg/mL at 20&#xb0; C. of, 0.01-10 wt. % nicotinamide, and at least 60 wt. % water. The invention also relates to a kit comprising said composition and to the use of nicotinamide as an enhancer of intranasal absorption of a physiologically active substance from an aqueous solution, wherein the aqueous solution further comprises 0.01-10 wt. % nicotinamide.

Intranasal administration of physiologically active substances

The present invention relates to a nebulizer, such as a spray can, for the topical application of a liquid and/or solid to a surface. The nebulizer is characterized by a valve comprising a mixing chamber designed for forming a colloidal mixture comprising a dispersed phase consisting of a liquid and/or a solid substance and a continuous phase consisting of a propellant gas before delivering the colloidal mixture to the nozzle. The invention also relates to a method for the topical cooling of the skin of a person or animal. In addition, the invention relates to various other uses of the device.

One aspect of the invention relates to a pharmaceutical dosage unit for sublingual, buccal, pulmonary or oral administration, said dosage unit having a weight of 20-500 mg and comprising 1-80 wt. % of a microgranulate that is distributed throughout a solid hydrophilic matrix; said microgranulate being characterized in that it: has a volume weighted average diameter of 5-100 m; contains at least 0.01 wt. %, preferably at least 0.1 wt. % of one or more water-insoluble pharmaceutically active substances; contains at least 10 wt. %, preferably at least 20 wt. % of an emulsifier component; and is capable of forming a micro-emulsion upon contact with saliva or water. The dosage units of the present invention achieve the inherent benefits of oral delivery while at the same time realizing a high transmucosal absorption rate of the cannabinoids contained therein. Other aspects of the present invention relate to the use of the aforementioned dosage units in the therapeutic or prophylactic treatment and to a process for the manufacture of said dosage units.

Dosage unit for sublingual, buccal or oral administration of water-insoluble pharmaceutically active substances

The present invention relates to ready-to-use sterile, alginate-based, aqueous compositions for medical use. More particularly, the invention relates to an aqueous composition for medical use that has been sterilized by heat sterilization and having a viscosity at 25&#xb0; C. of at least 300 cP) (Helipath&#xae; T F spindle, 100 rpm at 25&#xb0; C.), said composition having a pH in the range of 6.5-7.5; containing 0.5-10 wt. % of an alginate salt; and further containing 10-500 mM of one or more dissolved C-Cmono- or dicarboxylates that are optionally substituted with up to 2 hydroxyl groups. The alginate-based composition of the present invention has excellent storage stability and is easy to manufacture. The alginate-based aqueous compositions of the present invention can advantageously be used, for instance, to prevent adhesions between a healing trauma site and adjacent surrounding tissue. These compositions can further be used in implants or in pharmaceutical preparations for oral administration.
