A projectile comprises a pyrotechnic charge and a mobile member inside the projectile which rotates between a safe position and an armed position. At least part of a pyrotechnic delay device is accommodated in a passage in this mobile member. The pyrotechnic charge is initiated via this pyrotechnic delay device. The passage is oriented so as to isolate functionally the pyrotechic delay device from the pyrotechnic charge when the mobile member is in the safe position. It functionally couples the pyrotechnic delay device to the pyrotechnic charge when the mobile member is in the armed position. The projectile further comprises an arrangement on the mobile member and on the projectile to guide relative rotation between them about an axis fixed relative to the mobile member and relative to the projectile. A mechanical arming device retains the mobile member in the safe position and against rotation about the aforementioned axis relative to the projectile at least until the projectile is fired. It obliges the mobile member to move to the armed position when the projectile is fired by rotating about the axis relative to the projectile.

A projectile has a central part relative to the longitudinal direction of the projectile which is the direction in which it is fired. The projectile contains a pyrotechnic charge in the form of two identical operational charges. These are offset longitudinally relative to the central part of the projectile and symmetrically disposed one on each side of this central part. The projectile further contains a device for initiating the pyrotechnic charge subject to a time-delay. This device is accommodated in the central part of the projectile and adapted to initiate the two operational charges simultaneously.

Projectile comprising a pyrotechnic charge

A cartridge comprises a longitudinal tube having a transverse open end. A projectile is accommodated in and can slide longitudinally inside the tube. The projectile is ejected from the tube through the open end by sliding longitudinally relative to the tube. There is a pyrotechnic charge in the projectile. A device for securing delayed initiation of this charge comprises a fuse, a percussion member in the projectile movable between a retracted position in which it is removed from the fuse and a striking position in which it strikes the fuse, a device adapted to hold the percussion member temporarily in its retracted position and complementary mechanical devices on part of the projectile and part of the tube facing the path followed by this part of the projectile as it is ejected. The complementary mechanical devices impel the percussion member towards the striking position, overriding the temporary holding device, when the aforementioned part of the projectile passes across the aforementioned part of the tube during ejection of the projectile from the tube.

Cartridge

A cartridge for launching electromagnetic decoys with multiple charges comprises an elongated tube having an open upper end and a closed lower end, in which a plurality of flat holders, containing electromagnetic decoys are stacked over the length of the tube. At least one of the upper and lower surfaces of each flat holder is a conical surface in the shape of a flattened cone and each flat holder is provided in its lower part with a pyrotechnic charge able to project it upwards and to disperse the decoys. Each charge is connected to an adjacent charge by a pyrotechnic retarder and the upper most charge of the stack is provided with at least one pyrotechnic initiator, such that the arrangement formed by the initiator, the chargers and the retarders forms a continuous pyrotechnic chain, in order to allow, after detonation of the initiator, the successive ejection of the flat holders in a predetermined timed sequence.

Cartridge for launching electromagnetic decoys with multiple charges

An infrared decoy member is provided with a pyrotechnic chain for ejection and ignition incorporated in a unit. The ejection charge is mounted to slide in a cavity which allows the ejection of the unit as well as of adjacent infrared charges. A slide, which can be released when an acceleration threshold is crossed and on condition of ejection could ensure the transmission of fire to a transverse channel leading to useful charges. A second fire-transmitting chain which is independent, makes it possible to excite previously a similar decoy member located below.

This invention relates to the safety of ammunitions. The projectile of a cartridge has a base which houses a safety stop consisting of a transversely slidable valve. A device ensures that the valve cannot be released until the projectile has been subjected to a powerful acceleration. Another safety device very advantageously ensures that the pyrotechnical chain inserted in the base functions only when the pressure of the ejection charge has been able to release a sealing-block. In particular, the invention may be applied to infra red window releasing cartridges.
