A medical placeholder. The medical placeholder has at least one hollow body which is expandable and which defines an interior space, a gas infeed hose which is connected or connectable in a gas-permeable manner with the interior space of the hollow body, and a gas discharge hose which is connected or connectable in a gas-permeable manner with the interior space of the hollow body. The hollow body consists partly or completely of at least one plastic material which is permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide. A one-way valve is arranged in the gas infeed hose and a pressure relief valve is arranged in the gas discharge hose. Also disclosed is a method for gas-flushing a surface of a medical placeholder.

The medical implant is then immersed in the powder. The liquid film on the surface of the medical implant causes the powderto adhere well to the surface thereof.

A method for producing a spacer for insertion as a placeholder for an articular endoprosthesis, whereby a cement is filled into a compressed hollow space of a flexible compressed hollow mold, whereby the flexible hollow mold is expanded by the cement flowing into it, and the cement is filled into the hollow mold until the hollow space is expanded to a final state, whereby the hollow space in its final state determines the shape of the spacer to be produced, and the cement is then cured in said hollow space, and the spacer produced from the cement is removed from the hollow mold after curing. The invention also relates to the hollow mold, which comprises the compressible hollow space, whereby the hollow mold comprises at least one filling opening through which cement can be filled into the hollow space.

The invention relates to a device for vial opening comprising an external container, in which a closed vial having a vial body and a vial head is arranged, and comprising a hollow space in the region of the vial head, whereby the hollow space comprises at least one opening and a connection to the vial, whereby the vial head, at least regions thereof, is arranged in the connection of the hollow space to the vial, and the walls of the external container comprise at least one deformable region or are altogether made of a deformable material, whereby tilting of the vial with respect to the connection is made feasible, and the diameter of the connection is adapted to the dimensions of the vial head in such a manner that the vial head can be fractured or broken off the vial body when the vial is being tilted with respect to the connection.

Vial breaker

A paste is provided from which bone cement can be formed, which is to the largest extent possible bubble-free and has a high impact strength. The paste includes (i) 15-50 weight percent of at least one mono-functional, hydrophobic methacrylic acid ester, (ii) 40-85 weight percent of at least one filler, (iii) 0.01-4 weight percent of at least one radical initiator soluble in the methacrylic acid ester (i) and having at least one peroxide group, (iv) 0.01-4 weight percent of at least one radical initiator soluble in the methacrylic acid ester (i) and having no peroxide groups, (v) 0.000001-3 weight percent of at least one accelerator soluble in the methacrylic acid ester (i) and capable of forming radicals from the radical initiators according to (iii) and (iv), (vi) 0.001-5 weight percent of at least one halide salt, and (vii) 0.2-3 weight percent of at least one cross-linking agent.

Paste for producing bone cement

A cartridge system mixes and applies a mixing ware, such as, for example, a medical cement. The cartridge system has two cartridges that are arranged parallel to each other, and a mixing space having an outlet opening, wherein the cartridges each comprise at least one opening in the cartridge walls that connects the cartridges to the mixing space. The cartridges each comprise a feed plunger for expelling starting components of the mixing ware out of the cartridges through the openings, wherein a closure that can be shifted in the mixing space is arranged in the mixing space in a manner such that it closes the openings of the cartridges in a starting position and in that the openings to the mixing space are opened, at least in part, in a final position of the shiftable closure, wherein the shiftable closure can be shifted from a starting position to a final position. A dispensing tube for the cartridge system has, opposite from a dispensing tube tip of the dispensing tube, an extension with a diameter is smaller than an internal diameter of the mixing space, and which is designed to shift the shiftable closure during the insertion of the dispensing tube into the cartridge system head of the cartridge system such that the openings of the cartridges are open, at least in part.

A dispensing device for cartridges having a connection for supplying a pressurized gas, a base body, in which at least one passage and/or channel extends through which the pressurized gas can be guided to a first cartridge connector for connecting a cartridge. The first cartridge connector has a first opening towards the passage and/or the front channel such that a cartridge content can be expelled from the cartridge through application of the pressurized gas to a cartridge when the cartridge is arranged in the cartridge connector, wherein a second cartridge connector having a larger cross-section and a second opening is arranged at a front edge of the first cartridge connector The second cartridge connector is suitable for connecting a larger cartridge, and wherein the second opening of the second cartridge connector is sufficiently large to allow a cartridge to be connected to the first cartridge connector proceeding through the second opening.

The invention relates to a method for coating of a medical implant that can be used to apply a calcium salt to the surface of a medical implant easily and without expensive coating equipment and little expenditure of time. Accordingly, a method is provided that includes (i) providing a medical implant that includes at least one surface to be coated; (ii) providing a body that includes at least one calcium salt with a Mohs hardness of no more than 5.5 on at least one of its surfaces; and (iii) rubbing said body having the calcium salt-containing surface onto the at least one medical implant surface to be coated in order to coat said surface of the medical implant with the at least one calcium salt.

PMMA bone paste mixing apparatus and method

A dispensing device for cartridges having a trigger grip for operating a valve of the dispensing device, a connection for supplying a pressurized gas, a cartridge connector for connecting a cartridge, and a base body, in which at least one passage extends through such that pressurized gas can be guided to the cartridge connector. The cartridge connector comprises an opening towards the passage such that the content can be expelled from the cartridge upon application of the pressurized gas to the floor of a cartridge when the cartridge is arranged in the cartridge connector, and wherein the passage can be closed and opened through the operated valve. The valve has a valve body that is arranged in the base body in a rotatable manner, wherein a motion of the trigger grip leads to a rotation of the valve body in the base body. The passage is arranged in or on the valve body such that the passage is closed in a first position of the valve body and the passage in or on the valve body guides the pressurized gas to the cartridge connector in a second position of the valve body.

A kit for producing bone cement includes at least one paste A and one paste B. Paste A contains at least one monomer (a1) for radical polymerization; at least one polymer (a2) insoluble in monomer (a1); at least one polymer (a3) soluble in monomer (a1); and at least one radical polymerization initiator (a4). The weight ratio of the at least one polymer (a2) to the at least one polymer (a3) is at least 2 to 1. Paste B contains at least one monomer (b1) for radical polymerization; at least one polymer (b2) and at least one accelerator (b3) soluble in monomer (b1); and optionally a polymer (b4) insoluble in monomer (b1). The maximum quantity of polymer (b4) is 5% by weight, relative to the total weight of paste B. The weight ratio of polymer (b4) to the at least one polymer (b2) is no more than 0.2.

A bone cement system () is provided having a mixing facility () for mixing and dispensing of bone cement, a reservoir container () for a monomer, and a conveyor (). The mixing facility () has a mixing cylinder (), which stores a bone cement powder. The monomer can be conveyed from the reservoir container () into the mixing cylinder () by the conveyor (). A sieve element is () is arranged between the reservoir container () and the mixing facility (), in order to prevent ingress of the bone cement powder from the mixing cylinder () into the conveyor (). The mixing device () included a dispensing opening () for dispensing a bone cement mixed from the bone cement powder and the monomer. The dispensing opening () includes a shield () having at least one through-opening (). The ratio of the area of the through-opening () to the area of the sieve element () is at least 1 to 3, and the distance between the shield () and the sieve element () is at least 1 mm.
