A roller blind system for a vehicle roof includes a rotatable coiling body and a roller blind that is attached at one end to the coiling body and at the other end to a vehicle portion in a stationary manner. The coiling body is shiftable in a translational motion, allowing the roller blind to uncoil and coil up while minimizing frictional forces on the roller blind.

A wind deflector for a vehicle roof comprises a flexible deflecting element attached between a base element and a raising device. The base element is mountable on a vehicle roof, and the raising device is pivotably connected to the base element to raise and lower the deflecting element. The deflecting element is air-permeable to allow air to flow through it and is flexible enough to be folded when the raising device is lowered. A resilient member biases the raising device in the raised position, stabilizing the flexible deflecting element and holding it taut enough to counteract pressure variations in a vehicle interior near a roof opening.

A guide mechanism for a cover of a sliding/tilting roof has at least one lateral profiled rail, at least one bearing part each provided along the profiled rail for shifting the cover and at least one intermediate part which is connected with the bearing part and at least indirectly mechanically coupled to the cover. The intermediate part, for instance a slotted guide or a guiding part, has an extension which projects into the profiled rail, blocking the intermediate part from moving outside the profiled rail. The connection between the bearing part and the intermediate part is therefore additionally locked.

A frame is provided for vehicle roofs of all usual types, such as sliding sunroofs, slide-and-tilt sunroofs and top ridge sliding sunroofs (spoiler roofs), preferably having a motor drive for the cover that can be moved in relation to a roof opening by means of a cable drive system. The frame assembled from few parts comprises a plastic injection molded front member having cable channels open at the bottom and molded-on corner areas for the fixed attachment of the frame side members guiding the cover on guide rails, the side members preferably being cut to length from continuously cast aluminum profiles. The cable channels open at the bottom, into which the drive cables can easily be laid, are closed by at least one likewise plastic injection molded cover element. A motor mounting plate is provided as separate plastic injection molded part, so that it can be formed with high dimensional accuracy from another plastic particularly suited to the drive requirements. The frame is inexpensive to manufacture and can be easily and rapidly assembled by molding on assembly and positioning aids. Through standardisation of its few parts, particularly the motor mounting plate, the frame can be inexpensively adapted to suit the different requirements of specific vehicles.

A drive apparatus (5) is proposed, consisting of a drive casing (12) and a gear casing (19), in which the two casings (12, 19) are screwed to one another in a centered position and to the frame transverse component (2) with the incorporation between them of a plane wall of the front transverse frame portion (2) of a guide frame (1). The drive casing (12), preferably injection moulded in one piece from a wear-resistant, thermoplastics material, guides two drive cables (8, 9) with guide channels (15, 16) slender in the central portion (15) over such a length that the drive cables (8, 9) can emerge at both ends virtually free of lateral pressure from the drive casing (12) and enter the drive cable guides of the frame transverse portion (2). The drive casing (12) makes possible sliding movements of the drive cables guided with low radial clearance without noise caused by joint positions. As a result of the special formation of the drive casing (12) and of the gear casing (19) cooperating therewith, the drive apparatus can be mounted at low expense reliably and automatically centered, a drive pinion (20) situated in the drive casing (19) coming into engagement with the drive cables inside the drive casing (12).
