Described herein, a transparent soap bar for cleaning the skin including a soap surfactant, a synthetic surfactant, a fragrance component, an amine component, an antioxidant salt, wherein the transparent soap bar has a percent transmittance (% T) value of greater than 40% as measured using the method of Measurement of % Transmittance.

Certain liquid personal care cleaning compositions containing: linalool, a linalool isomer, or combinations thereof; and hinokitiol exhibit effective antibacterial properties.

Cleansing compositions can include hinokitiol; and a 2-pyridinol N-oxide material; wherein the ratio by weight of the 2-pyridinol N-oxide material to the hinokitiol is about 1:4 to about 2:1 and the combination of the 2-pyridinol N-oxide material and hinokitiol includes about 9 ppm or more by weight of the cleansing composition.
