According to an aspect, a display device includes a display module including a display panel and a conductive layer, and an enclosure configured to surround the display module, where the enclosure includes a conductive portion. The display device includes an antenna having a structure formed by an air gap disposed between the conductive layer and the conductive portion of the enclosure. The antenna includes an antenna feed located within the air gap. The antenna feed is coupled to the conductive portion of the enclosure and to the conductive layer such that at least a portion of the display module is configured as a radiating element for wireless communication.

Display module excitation for wireless communications

The present disclosure describes aspects of a conductive receptacle collar for desense mitigation. In aspects, an apparatus comprises a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) that includes an integrated circuit with signal lines for a wired data interface. The apparatus also includes a coupling component with a receptacle for the wired data interface and an enclosure in which the PCBA is mounted. The enclosure has an opening through which the receptacle for the wired data interface is exposed. A conductive collar is disposed between an exterior surface of the receptacle and an interior surface of this opening. The conductive collar contacts the receptacle's exterior surface and the interior surface of the opening to electrically couple these respective surfaces. By so doing, the conductive collar improves grounding of the receptacle to the enclosure, which may mitigate the desense of the apparatus's wireless receivers caused by operation of the wired data interface.

An antenna includes a planar dielectric substrate having opposing first and second surfaces, a ground plane disposed at the first surface, the ground plane composed of conductive material, a radiating plane disposed at the second surface and composed of conductive material. The radiating plane implements a plurality of unit cells, with each unit cell having a corresponding section of the conductive material of the radiating plane that is formed in a specified shape, the specified shape including a first portion forming a load inductor and second portion forming a radiating patch electrically coupled to the load inductor. Each unit cell further includes at least one via electrically coupling the load inductor to the ground plane.

Example wearable audio devices are disclosed. In one example implementation, a wearable audio device includes a housing defining an interior and an exterior. The exterior can have an ear engaging surface. The wearable audio device can include an audio source located within the interior of the housing. The wearable audio device can include an antenna located within the interior. The antenna can have an arc-shaped conductor with a first end and a second end defining an opening. The antenna can be positioned within the housing of the wearable audio device such that the opening of the antenna is positioned further from an ear relative to a middle portion of the arc-shaped conductor when the wearable audio device is worn in the ear.

Antenna for a wearable audio device

A computing device may include a conductive member, a slot antenna including a slot defined by the conductive member, and an antenna pattern portion disposed proximate to the slot. The computing device includes an antenna switch configured to switch the antenna pattern portion. The antenna switch has a first terminal coupled to the antenna pattern portion and a second terminal coupled to a ground contact. The antenna switch is switchable between a first configuration in which the first and second terminals are electrically connected and a second configuration in which the first and second terminals are not electrically connected. The computing device includes a switching controller configured to switch the antenna switch between the first and second configurations.

Switching a slot antenna

A computing device may include a conductive member, a slot antenna having a slot defined by the conductive member and an antenna pattern portion disposed proximate to the slot, and/or a slot switch configured to switch a portion of the slot. The slot switch may have a first terminal and a second terminal such that the portion of the slot is disposed between the first terminal and the second terminal. The slot switch may be switchable between a first configuration in which the first and second terminals are electrically connected and a second configuration in which the first and second terminals are not electrically connected. The computing device may also include a switching controller configured to switch the slot switch between the first and second configurations.
