A mixed reality presentation system identifies an operating condition associated with an operation performed on a body while an active imaging device captures imagery of an internal view of the body. The mixed reality presentation system also determines, based on the identified operating condition, that a display device is to toggle a display of a shape overlay that is displayed together with an external view of the body and that is indicative of an extent of a field of view of the active imaging device relative to the body. Based on the determining that the display device is to toggle the display of the shape overlay, the mixed reality presentation system directs the display device to toggle the display of the shape overlay. Corresponding systems and methods are also disclosed.

A teleoperational medical system comprises a teleoperational assembly including an operator control system, a first teleoperational manipulator, a first medical instrument, and a processing unit including one or more processors. The first teleoperational manipulators is configured for operation by an operator control device of the operator control system. The first teleoperational manipulator is configured to control the operation of the first medical instrument in a surgical environment. The processing unit is configured to display an image of a field of view of the surgical environment and display a menu proximate to an image of the first medical instrument in the image of the field of view. The menu includes at least one state indicator representing a state of a component of the first medical instrument.

Systems and methods for onscreen menus in a teleoperational medical system

A method comprises displaying an image of a field of view of a surgical environment. A first medical instrument in the field of view may be coupled to a first manipulator in a teleoperational assembly. The method may comprise displaying a menu proximate to an image of the first medical instrument in the image of the field of view. The menu may include a plurality of icons wherein each icon is associated with a function for the first medical instrument. The method may also comprise identifying a selected icon from the plurality of icons based upon a movement of an operator control device of a teleoperational operator control system.

A system comprises a teleoperational assembly including an operator control system and a first teleoperational manipulator configured for operation by an operator control device of the operator control system. The first teleoperational manipulator is configured to control the operation of a first medical instrument in a surgical environment. The system also comprises a processing unit including one or more processors. The processing unit is configured to display an image of a field of view of the surgical environment and display a menu proximate to an image of the first medical instrument in the image of the field of view. The menu includes at least one icon representing a function for the first medical instrument.

A method for sorting cells in a biological sample comprising a first type of cells and a second type of cells may comprise introducing the biological sample into a chamber comprising a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface is associated with a transparent electrode and the second surface is associated with a photoconductive portion of an electrode. The method may further comprise moving incident light and the photoconductive portion relative to one another so as to illuminate regions of the photoconductive portion and modulate an electric field in the chamber in proximity to the illuminated regions. The method may further comprise separating the first type of cells from the second type of cells in the chamber via dielectrophoretic movement of the first type of cells and the second type of cells caused by the modulated electric field, wherein a dielectrophoretic characteristic of at least one of the first type of cells and the second type of cells has been modified.

Devices and methods for optoelectronic manipulation of small particles

Devices, systems and methods for use in separating sample materials into different sample components and then isolating one or more of the sample components for further processing or analysis are disclosed. Devices employ configurations that optionally allow a sample material to be electrophoretically separated into sample components in a separation matrix within a separation conduit. The sample components may then be detected in a detection zone in the separation conduit, and then selected components shunted to a component collection conduit within the device downstream of the detection zone for further processing or analysis based on information received at the detection zone. Methods of using these devices, and systems that incorporate these devices are also envisioned.

Methods, systems and apparatus for separation and isolation of one or more sample components of a sample biological material

A container is provided for shipping and storing a pre-wetted and pre-conditioned microfluidic 'sipper' chip. The container contains both dry compartments and wet compartments. A base contains a fluid-filled reservoir configured to house the capillaries. The opening of the reservoir is sealed with an O-ring. The plastic mount of the chip rests on the base in a dry compartment. The upper surface of the chip contains several wells containing fluid. A gasket is provided with plugs configured to be disposed within and seal the wells. Alternatively, the wells are first sealed with a foil film adhered to the well openings with an adhesive and a gasket is disposed between the foil and a cover, which is removably attached to the base. When the cover is closed, the gasket and O-ring seal the wet compartments to prevent leakage and to slow evaporation.
