A display apparatus includes a pixel array, a data line and a data driver. The pixel array has adjacent first and second pixels disposed in different rows. The data line transmits first and second pixel voltages to be written into the first and second pixels respectively. The first and second pixel voltages are employed to illustrate a same frame. The data driver is utilized for generating the first and second pixel voltages furnished to the data line based on input image data. The data driver includes a voltage analysis unit and a voltage setting unit. The voltage analysis unit is used for calculating a voltage difference between the first and second pixel voltages, and for comparing the voltage difference with a preset value so as to generate a control signal. The voltage setting unit is utilized for setting the voltage of the data line according to the control signal.

Display apparatus and pixel voltage driving method thereof

A liquid display panel driving method to drive a plurality of pixels of a liquid display panel in a frame period comprising a plurality of data input intervals is provided. Each pixel comprises first and second capacitors coupled to a first and second common electrode respectively. The liquid display panel driving method comprises the steps of: keeping the second common electrode at the same voltage level; modifying the voltage of the first common electrode of each pixel along a row of scan line to perform a first pre-charge before the data input interval; turning on the pixels to make each pixel receive the data voltage from the data lines during the data input interval; and turning off the pixels and modifying the voltage of the first common electrode to further set the voltage of each of the pixels to a target level after the data input interval.

Liquid display panel driving method

A bistable display and a method of driving a panel thereof are provided. The present invention would set the driving information lookup table (DLUT) and the corresponding reference information relating to each frame of the bistable display in advance, and look up the previous frame driving data and/or the current frame driving data of the panel according to the set reference information and thus obtaining information for driving each pixel of the panel. Accordingly, not only the memory space of the built-in DLUTs can be substantially reduced and thus saving the usage cost of memories, but also the time for download DLUTs from the external memory unit by the timing controller (T-con) can be reduced so as to promote the operation performance of the whole bistable display and thus further increasing the speed of the panel.

Bistable display and method of driving panel thereof

A method for driving a display device is provided herein. The display device includes a plurality of scan lines. The method comprises following steps: dividing the scan lines into a plurality of groups, each of which comprises at least two scan lines, i.e. a first and a second scan line; during a first frame period, sequentially enabling the first and second scan line of each group in accordance with a first driving sequence; and during a second frame period, sequentially enabling the first and second scan line of each group in accordance with a second driving sequence, wherein the first driving sequence is different from the second driving sequence.

A liquid crystal display device and a driving control circuit thereof are provided. The driving control circuit includes a voltage switch unit and a selection unit. A display panel is provided and includes a display unit and a control unit. The display unit is coupled to a data line and a first scan line. In the display unit, a liquid crystal capacitor is coupled between a pixel electrode and a first common line, and a storage capacitor is coupled between the pixel electrode and a second common line. The control unit receives first and second common voltages and is controlled by first and second control voltage signals and first and second scan signals which are respectively on the first scan line and a second scan line and driven sequentially. The control unit changes the voltage level of the second common line by a two-step manner according to the first and second common voltages. Through feed-through effect of the storage capacitor, the voltage level of the pixel electrode is changed to a desired level.

The counter receives the image data and obtains an image-loading value of the image data. The comparator outputs a control signal indicating the comparison result to a backlight module to adjust the brightness of the backlight module.

Device and method for adjusting backlight brightness

An apparatus and method for adaptively adjusting backlight are described. The backlight adjusting apparatus includes an intensity-pair distribution device, a brightness compensation module, a frame-adjusting device, a backlight control device, and a backlight module. The intensity-pair distribution device generates a plurality of intensity-pair distribution values of the image frames each composed of a plurality of pixel data. The brightness compensation module computes a dark-state ratio of the pixel data of a current image frame in response to the intensity-pair distribution values, and computes a brightness index of the current image frame in response to the dark-state ratio for generating a brightness compensating signal based on the dark-state ratio and the brightness index. The frame adjusting device adjusts the brightness of the total pixel data of the current image frame in response to brightness compensating signal. The backlight control device updates the brightness index of the current image frame in response to the brightness index of a previous image frame and the intensity-pair distribution values of the current image frame for generating a backlight control signal of the current image frame. The backlight module adjusts the backlight of the module in response to the backlight control signal.

A method for driving an LCD device having a plurality of sets of gate lines is disclosed. The method includes sequentially enabling odd gate lines of a first set of gate lines in ascending order for writing first-polarity data into corresponding pixels based on a first common voltage during a first interval, sequentially enabling even gate lines of the first set of gate lines in ascending order for writing second-polarity data into corresponding pixels based on a second common voltage during a second interval, sequentially enabling even gate lines of a second set of gate lines in descending order for writing second-polarity data into corresponding pixels based on the second common voltage during a third interval, and sequentially enabling odd gate lines of the second set of gate lines in descending order for writing first-polarity data into corresponding pixels based on the first common voltage during a fourth interval.

A method for driving a liquid crystal display includes: a) receiving a video signal from a first group of gray scales values; b) comparing a current frame of the video signal with a previous frame to determine whether the current frame is in a static state or in a dynamic state; c) when the current frame is determined to be in the static state, converting the video signal to a driving signal; d) when the current frame is determined to be in the dynamic state, calculating a overdrive signal.
