A liquid crystal/polymer composite electrically controlled dimming film is provided, including a liquid crystal material, a polymer matrix, and two layers of conductive substrates. The polymer matrix is sandwiched between the two layers of conductive substrates, and the polymer matrix has a porous microstructure. The liquid crystal material is dispersed in the polymer matrix to form liquid crystal microdroplets, and the liquid crystal microdroplets have vertically oriented polymer networks. The liquid crystal/polymer composite electrically controlled dimming film has a unique composite microstructure. In this composite microstructure, the polymer matrix of the porous microstructure gives the film with good mechanical processing performance. In addition, the vertically oriented polymer networks in the liquid crystal microdroplets further reduces the orientation difficulty of liquid crystal molecules, which is conducive to reducing the driving voltage of the liquid crystal/polymer composite electrically controlled dimming film, and is suitable for large area processing and production.

Liquid crystal/polymer composite electrically controlled dimming films and preparation methods thereof

A device for sampling soil of tropical lowland rainforest is provided, and the device includes a driving motor, a probe rod and a sampling barrel. The present invention relates to a temperature-controlled dimming film with a function of shielding near-infrared light, which comprises a polymer network skeleton and liquid crystal molecules, wherein the polymer network skeleton consists of a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal network structure and a polymer-stabilized liquid crystal network structure and comprises a polymer matrix with pores inside which polymer networks are vertically aligned; and the liquid crystal molecules are dispersed in the polymer network skeleton and have smectic (SmA)-cholesteric (N*) phase transition. Between the skeleton and the liquid crystal molecules, nanoparticles, having absorption at 800-3000 nm, are dispersed. In the invention, a stepwise polymerization method is utilized to construct a PD&SLC network structure between two substrates, which greatly improve the bonding strength between the two substrates and the heat insulation performance of the temperature-controlled liquid crystal dimming film.

This disclosure relates to a blue phase liquid crystal composite material formed by photopolymerization of material components comprising a parent blue phase liquid crystal, a photo-polymerizable monomer, a photoinitiator, and inorganic nanoparticles; and to a liquid crystal display comprising the blue phase liquid crystal composite material. The blue phase liquid crystal composite material has a low driving voltage, no electro-optical hysteresis, and rapid response time to an electric field.

Blue phase liquid crystal composite material and liquid crystal display containing the same

The present invention relates to a composite comprising a polymer and a blue phase liquid crystal (BPLC). The polymer is a crosslinked and non-liquid crystalline polymer, the BPLC is dispersed in said polymer, and the ratio of the polymer to the BPLC by weight (W/W) satisfies the relationship: 12:88&#x3c;W/W&#x2266;30:70, wherein the Wis the weight of the polymer, and Wis the weight of the BPLC. The composite exhibits a very wide temperature range of blue phase of the BPLC, and can respond to an electric field at a millisecond level. The composite has an excellent stability, and a lower viscosity, while a wide viewing angle and a low driving voltage can be achieved. The invention also provides a method for preparing the composite, and a LCD device comprising the composite. The method of the present invention is simple and efficient.
