An herbicidal composition comprising (a) glyphosate or a derivative thereof, (b) an amidoalkylamine surfactant of formula (1): wherein Ris a hydrocarbyl having from about 1 carbon atoms to about 22 carbon atoms, Rand Rare each independently hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms and Ris hydrocarbylene or substituted hydrocarbylene having from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms and (c) a co-surfactant component comprising at least one co-surfactant selected from, for example, alkoxylated tertiary amine oxides, amidoamine alkoxylates, and betaines.

This disclosure provides a composition comprising a mixture of molecules of Formula (I): {RO&#x2014;[CH(CH)CHO)][CH&#x2014;CHO]}P(&#x2550;O)(OX)(I), wherein R is chosen from linear or branched C-Calkyl or alkenyl groups; a is 0 to 50, b is 0-30, and a+b&#x3e;0; Xis potassium, triethanolamine, or H, and m and n are each equal to 1 or 2, such that when m=1 then n=2, and when m=2 then n=1. Moreover, in the mixture some of the molecules have m=1 and n=2 and some of the molecules have m=2 and n=1, wherein the mole ratio of compounds where m=1 to compounds where m=2 is of from 1:1 to 3:1.

An aqueous based coating composition comprising a fatty amine quaternary having the structure of formula (I): RRRRNXwherein R, R, R, and Rare independently selected from saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aralkyl, or alkenyl groups comprising from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, whereby at least one of R, R, R, and Ris a C12-C30 group, and Xis an anion from an inorganic or organic acid, is provided. Methods for imparting water resistance to a wood substrate having up to 100% moisture by applying a coating composition having the fatty amine quaternary of formula (I), and for preparing an aqueous coating composition comprising the fatty amine quaternary of formula (I) are provided. Also provided is a coated water resistant wood substrate comprising the fatty amine quaternary of formula (I).

The present invention provides a process for using nanosized copper, nanosized copper oxides, nanosized copper chlorides, other nanosized copper salts, and mixtures thereof, as sources of catalytic copper in the Direct Synthesis of trialkoxysilanes of the formula HSi(OR)wherein R is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms inclusive. The nanosized copper, nanosized copper oxides, nanosized copper chlorides, other nanosized copper salts, and their mixtures of this invention have average particle sizes that are in the range from about 0.1 to about 60 nanometers, preferably from about 0.1 to about 30 nanometers, and most preferably from about 0.1 to about 15 nanometers. Nanosized sources of catalytic copper afford high dispersion of catalytic sites on silicon and contribute to high reaction rates, high selectivity and high silicon conversion. The nanosized copper catalyst precursors of the invention permit the use of substantially reduced levels of copper compared to conventional practice.

Compositions comprising silicone antifoam compounds and fluorosilicone polymers are the preferred surface-active additives of the instant process.

Surface-active additives in the direct synthesis of trialkoxysilanes

The present invention is a process for producing nanosized metal compounds. The preferred product is nanosized copper, nanosized copper (I) oxide, and nanosized copper (II) oxide. The process includes heating a copper metal precursor in a hydrocarbon preferably selected from alkylated benzenes, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, paraffins and/or naphthenic hydrocarbons. The heating is desirably at a temperature and time effective to convert, for example, the copper metal precursor to nanosized copper (II) oxide, nanosized copper (I) oxide and/or nanosized copper metal. Separation of the hydrocarbon is then performed. Recovering the solid product and recycle/reuse of the recovered hydrocarbon in subsequent preparations of nanosized metal and metal oxides may be performed. The nanosized metal oxides of the invention may additionally be converted to nanosized metal salts by reaction with the appropriate acids while dispersed in the hydrocarbons.

This invention discloses hydrophilic additives in polysiloxane gels, elastomers and coatings, and novel processes for producing them. The process comprises:

Siloxane-polyether copolymers with unsaturated functionalities, and

Dissolved silanes, silicones and silicates from solvents used in the slurry phase Direct Synthesis of alkoxysilanes are removed by adding a carboxylic acid such as formic acid to generate filterable precipitates and reusable solvent. The solvents are thereby remediated and made suitable for reuse in Direct Synthesis processes. Foaming is reduced with the remediated solvent and silicon conversion rates are higher. The precipitates are easily filtered and retain negligible quantities of solvent.

Removal of dissolved silicates from alcohol-silicon direct synthesis

The instant invention provides a method for improving the miscibility of the lower molecular weight unsaturated siloxane-polyether copolymers with the .alpha., .omega.-divinylpolysiloxanes without loss of storage stability, or delay of cure at the vulcanization temperature, or loss of permanent hydrophilicity or other desirable features of the cured polysiloxane. The compositions of the present invention comprise one or more .alpha., .omega.-divinylpolysiloxanes, unsaturated polysiloxane-polyether copolymers having from 2 to 5 silicon atoms per molecule which are preferably trisiloxanes, and a compatibilizing additive.
