A biometric authentication platform uses fault-tolerant distributed computing to determine if a supplied biometric live scan and template are from the same person. Features provide additional protection for biometric data. The template and live scan may be encrypted using a symmetric encryption key. The encrypted template and live scan may be sent with copies of the symmetric key, each copy further encrypted by a public key associated with one processor's public-private key pair. Each processor may decrypt a copy of the symmetric key, which may then be used by the processor for decrypting the live scan and template for matching. A decentralized user ledger may store an encrypted copy of the biometric template, with the key stored locally in a registered device. Alternatively, a decentralized user ledger may store a hash of the biometric template, for verification of a template that is maintained on a registered device.

Biometric data protection during decentralized biometric authentication

The technology disclosed relates to simplifying updating of a predictive model using clustering observed points. In particular, it relates to observing a set of points in 3D sensory space, determining surface normal directions from the points, clustering the points by their surface normal directions and adjacency, accessing a predictive model of a hand, refining positions of segments of the predictive model, matching the clusters of the points to the segments, and using the matched clusters to refine the positions of the matched segments. It also relates to distinguishing between alternative motions between two observed locations of a control object in a 3D sensory space by accessing first and second positions of a segment of a predictive model of a control object such that motion between the first position and the second position was at least partially occluded from observation in a 3D sensory space.

Predictive information for free space gesture control and communication

The technology disclosed relates to manipulating a virtual object. In particular, it relates to detecting a hand in a three-dimensional (3D) sensory space and generating a predictive model of the hand, and using the predictive model to track motion of the hand. The predictive model includes positions of calculation points of fingers, thumb and palm of the hand. The technology disclosed relates to dynamically selecting at least one manipulation point proximate to a virtual object based on the motion tracked by the predictive model and positions of one or more of the calculation points, and manipulating the virtual object by interaction between at least some of the calculation points of the predictive model and the dynamically selected manipulation point.

The technology disclosed relates to providing simplified manipulation of virtual objects by detected hand motions. In particular, it relates to a detecting hand motion and positions of the calculation points relative to a virtual object to be manipulated, dynamically selecting at least one manipulation point proximate to the virtual object based on the detected hand motion and positions of one or more of the calculation points, and manipulating the virtual object by interaction between the detected hand motion and positions of one or more of the calculation points and the dynamically selected manipulation point.

A method for detecting a finger is provided. The method includes obtaining a plurality of digital images including a first digital image captured by a camera from a field of view containing a background and a hand including at least one finger, and obtaining an identification of pixels of the plurality of digital images that correspond to at least one finger that is visible in the plurality of digital images rather than to the background, the pixels being identified by: obtaining, from the digital images, a Gaussian brightness falloff pattern indicative of at least one finger, identifying an axis of the at least one finger based on the obtained Gaussian brightness falloff pattern indicative of the at least one finger without identifying edges of the at least one finger, and identifying the pixels that correspond to the at least one finger based on the identified axis.

Differentiating a detected object from a background using a gaussian brightness falloff pattern

A collection of reference samples is maintained in a distributed ledger () with immutable history of modifications. Systems and methods of free-space gestural interaction

The present invention describes a device and method for touchless palmprint acquisition. The method can be applied to a terminal device (including but not limited to mobile phones, tablet computers and other portable devices) with a display screen and a front-facing camera. The camera is used to capture images of palms. The screen is used as a supplementary light source. When lighting condition in the palm area is undesirable, the screen changes its display to improve the lighting condition inside the palm, which increases the recognizability of the palmprint. The palmprint acquisition device and method described in the present invention can be directly applied to existing terminal devices without requiring any additional hardware. By adopting a variety of ways to change the display of the built-in screen of the terminal device, the lighting condition of the palm area will be improved and the recognizability of the palmprint will be increased.

Device and method for touchless palm print acquisition

Enhanced contrast between an object of interest and background surfaces visible in an image is provided using controlled lighting directed at the object. Exploiting the falloff of light intensity with distance, a light source (or multiple light sources), such as an infrared light source, can be positioned near one or more cameras to shine light onto the object while the camera(s) capture images. The captured images can be analyzed to distinguish object pixels from background pixels.

Enhanced contrast for object detection and characterization by optical imaging based on differences between images

A computing platform is described to match a palm digital representation to a palm template. The platform includes logic causing presenting a viewfinder image including an image stream and/or a cue appearing to reside substantially in front of a user to guide the user to align a palm at a position within a field of view of a camera; capturing a set of images using the camera; processing the set of images to determine a set of identifying features of the palm; and comparing the set of identified features with enrolled palm prints to identify the palm.
